Marketing the women’s submission wrestling industry to main stream conservative societies around the globe and explaining that it should be viewed and respected like any other female run sport is a lot like smiling and telling a child that a tomato looks and tastes better than candy.
No matter how that message is packaged, it’s hard for them to swallow it.
If there is anyone in the female wrestling industry who could actually sell ice to Eskimos, sunshine to Arizona and earthquake insurance to North Dakota; it’s Joni Podesta otherwise known as Malibu. When you research her body of work it seems she has successfully sold just about everything.
At businessweek.com, Bloomberg’s Caroline Hyde reports on why luxury goods makers are having such a hard time selling items in China and offering deep discounts on their merchandise. She speaks to Manus Cranny and Mark Barton on “Countdown.”
My question is have those corporations contacted Malibu?
Watching Malibu wrestle is a soft and easy sell. She’s energetic, muscle sexy, tanned and very skilled. She has wrestled throughout the industry with great results including meeting super stars Ziggy and Kristie Etzold.
You can wrestle Malibu too if you feel up to it. I had a friend who wrestled her and raved to me extensively about it. Here is what others are saying as well.
“I have had numerous sessions or matches with Malibu. She is very professional and truly enjoys what she does.
She is very clean and knows how to apply various holds safely but is willing to apply as much force as you are willing to accept. She is careful to monitor how well you are doing and will adjust on the fly. She is a strong woman who does indeed possess the power to hurt you if she needed to so it adds to the level of excitement. She would never hurt you intentionally. Her scissors as with many women are very strong and if she traps your head you will give up when she is read for you to. She is also good with her upper body and can apply a very effective sleeper.”
Let’s look at Malibu’s vast resume so please take a deep breath.
Malibu’s informative site jonipodesta.com expresses, “Los Angeles Fitness Expert Joni Podesta brings more than 30 years of experience to transform you to a new physique. If your needs include weight loss, body reconstruction and sculpting, fat loss, nutrition, dynamic motivational techniques, home gym design or bodybuilding, Joni has the exceptional personality, attitude, intuition and knowledge to complete your journey. And she will make you happy with your new body.”
At the entertainment information site imdb.com it displays that she has participated in a number of films as either a stunt woman or actress. Her credits include Marley and Me, The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning, Bare Knuckles, Higher Learning with John singleton, Lovestruck, and Million Dollar Baby with Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood.
Probably what she is most widely recognized for is her success on the innovative television show American Gladiators.
“The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service fits him and sells itself”…….Peter Drucker
As a licensed real estate agent, Malibu sells attractive properties in the beautiful Southern California and offers this if you’re contemplating moving there. “A home is not a home because of its room dimensions or the color of the walls. It is about how you feel when you walk through the front door. And the way you can instantly envision your life unfolding there.
This is about more than real estate. It is about your life and your dreams.”
The respected site femalemuscle.com expands on her accomplishments raving, “At 5′ 8″ tall, this California blonde’s resume is as long as she is tall. You may best know Malibu as an American Gladiator, going head to head with the likes of Zap, Ice, and Siren. You may also know Malibu from her years of fantasy, semi-competitive and all out competitive mixed wrestling. Did you also know that she is a personal trainer, stunt woman, pro football player, model, actress, boxer and black belt in numerous martial arts?”
Well, now you do.
According the female wrestler’s list WB270.com, Malibu resides in the San Fernando Valley. Why don’t we take a sunny drive there and visit.
The great educational source Wikipedia explains, “The San Fernando Valley (known locally and in surrounding areas as “The Valley“) is an urbanized valley located in the Los Angeles metropolitan area of southern California, defined by the mountains of the Transverse Ranges circling it. Home to 1.8 million people, it lies north of the larger and more populous Los Angeles Basin.
Nearly two thirds of the Valley’s land area is part of the City of Los Angeles. The other incorporated cities in the Valley are Glendale, Burbank, San Fernando, Hidden Hills, and Calabasas.
The advent of three new industries in the early 20th century – motion pictures, automobiles, and aircraft – also spurred urbanization and population growth.
The automobile still remains the dominant form of transportation in the Valley. Major freeways cross the Valley, including Interstate 405 – San Diego Freeway; U.S. Route 101 – Ventura Freeway / Hollywood Freeway; State Route 118 – Reagan Freeway; State Route 170 – Hollywood Freeway; Interstate 210 – Foothill Freeway; and Interstate 5 – Golden State Freeway.
In August 2005, the median price of an average one-family home in the San Fernando Valley reached $600,000. In 1997, it was only $155,000. In the summer of 2003, it reached $400,000 and by July 2005, it had reached $578,500. From July to August (one month) 2005, it rose by $100,000. The San Fernando Valley is home to one of the most expensive housing markets in the country. The median home value as of July 2014 is $536,000, the highest in the region in 8 years.”
Clearly Malibu has made some great decisions along the way to reach an almost iconic status in the fully competitive female wrestling industry.
With a sexy warm smile, a body that won’t quit and an exceptional marketing mind that achieves results; Malibu is a wrestler who has accomplished much with the expectation of even greater achievements to come.
