November 16, 2019,
Waiting in super market lines can provide you with an earful of trending information.
Speak less. Listen more.
The cashier will ask the customer if they like this particular product, brand or flavor and why.
You just quietly listen.
A friend of ours was standing in a super market line recently and overheard the attendant and customer talking about flavored milk. Then the attendant began to sound off on the various flavored milk products that are out there with some very intriguing and delicious sounding flavor combinations.
It made her want to try some.
Right now.
As reported by technavio.com, “Milk has long been regarded as an essential beverage, lauded for its high levels of calcium and other health benefits. Today, milk manufacturers are working to innovate milk in order to increase its consumption, specifically targeting youth. This has led to the development of flavored milks, which can be enjoyed on their own or integrated into a variety of recipes. According to analysts at Technavio, the global flavored milk market, which was valued at $21.87 billion in 2015, will reach $26.88 billion by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 4.21%.”
Some of the thinking behind adding flavored milk to a company’s portfolio is a time worn one.
Declining sales.
Health conscious consumers are increasingly turning to plant based milk products.
According to marketwatch.com, “The plant-based milk industry keeps growing, while sales of cow’s milk are slipping. Consumers are making the switch for health reasons, intolerance to dairy, ethical concerns about animal abuse in modern dairy farming practices, or simply for wanting another alternative to dairy, even if they have to pay more for it, industry experts say.”
Have you consumed flavored milk recently? If you haven’t, the market is way beyond the plain and chocolate flavors that used to be the primary options of the past.
Here are some of the options that are out there now.
- Chocolate Marshmallow Milk.
- Cherry Milk.
- Caramel Milk.
- Peppermint Milk.
- Banana Milk.
- Warm Vanilla Milk.
- Rose Milk.
- Lavender Milk Steamer.
- Peanut Butter.
- Peppermint Extract.
- Orange Extract.
- Shredded Coconut.
- Caramel.
- Berries.
Well, well, well. That is quite a creative list. How things have changed and admittedly greatly improved.
Some of the leading manufacturers, producers and suppliers of flavored milk in North America are Nestle, Hershey’s, The Farmer’s Cow, and Oakhurst.
Their timing couldn’t be better.
The informative team at mordorintelligence.com educate, “There has been a considerable shift in the lifestyles and diet habits of people over the past two decades. Urbanization and consumerism drove this shift, leading to a rapid rise in the consumption of artificial and synthetic beverage products, which has resulted in an increased incidence of lifestyle diseases. With the fast-paced lifestyle, the consumer wants to consume those food products which not only have good tastes but it should also have greater nutrition value. Consumers are therefore preferring easy to make flavored milk drinking forms which can be readily mixed.”
Another category of consumers that are turning to flavored milk are athletes who want the nutrients of plain milk like calcium and protein but desire an improved tasting experience while doing do.
The knowing minds at webmd.com confirm, “People who have a diet rich in milk and milk products can reduce the risk of low bone mass throughout the life cycle. Foods in the milk group provide vital nutrients, including calcium, potassium, vitamin D, and protein.”
To appeal to this physically fit audience, manufacturers are increasing turning to talented and popular well-decorated athletes.
One of them is Katie Ledecky.
She loves her flavored milk. We love her story. Please enjoy.
