Performances that encompass courage, fortitude and endurance under great duress while under-manned is the hallmark of the Spartan Warrior experience.
It is one of the many reasons why the tale of the Spartan’s battles endure to this day.
The 300 Spartans is a 1962 CinemaScope epic film depicting the Battle of Thermopylae.
Made with the cooperation of the Greek government, it was shot in the village of Perachora in the Peloponnese.
It stars Richard Egan as the Spartan king Leonidas, Sir Ralph Richardson as Themistocles of Athens and David Farrar as Persian king Xerxes, with Diane Baker as Ellas and Barry Coe as Phylon providing the requisite romantic element in the film. Greek warriors, led by 300 Spartans, fight against a Persian army of almost limitless size.
Despite the odds, the Spartans will not flee or surrender, even if it means their deaths.
It is a very powerful and inspiring film.
Marta Vieira da Silva, commonly known as Marta, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for the Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League and the Brazil national team as a forward. With 15 goals, she holds the record for most goals scored at FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments, surpassing Birgit Prinz‘s previous record of 14 with a goal against South Korea in Brazil’s first match of the 2015 edition in Canada.
Marta is often regarded as the best female player of all time, coveting the nickname Pele with skirts by Pele himself.
She was named FIFA World Player of the Year five consecutive times between 2006 and 2010. She was a member of the Brazilian national teams that won the silver medal at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics.
She was once quoted as expressing, “Never give up, and be confident in what you do. There may be tough times, but the difficulties which you face will make you more determined to achieve your objectives and to win against all the odds.”…Marta
A match in our competitive female submission wrestling world that inspires even when the Fem Competitor is over whelmed occurs when the American Tess, meets the skilled stealth Lilith from the Czech Republic.
We loved both girls so much that we wrote about them.

The two beauties met at one of the great Femwrestle Events in November of 2015.
Entering into this match few knew who would win this one. You suspected Lilith of the Czech Republic, who is an established company fighter, compared to Tess who is an independent fighter based out of New York.
Lilith has wrestled extensively and has a great track record at the Femwrestle Events in Germany while Tess has less experience but is incredibly fit with tight muscles.
Unknown to Tess, like the Spartans, this would turn into an unwinnable fight.
As the sexy girls are introduced, sweetly clad in pink briefs and a gray and black sports bra, she smiles and walks towards the center of the mats with a huge smile and flexes her gorgeous muscles for the audience.
Lilith smiles and she quietly watches the ceremony and then she walks close to the center and flexes as well, looking super cute in neon yellow briefs and a black sports bra.
On their knees the two girls engage.
Tess seems to think she will over power Lilith is too skilled as she pulls Tess towards her and traps her while she is on her back and packages Tess in a wrap-around head scissors and it’s over quickly.
The audience is engaged as Lilith’s team members including Alkai and Artemis are chatting and taking pictures.
The next move by Lilith is a crunching body scissors which is done in less than a minute.
Now the American knows that she is in an unwinnable fight but continues to battle on. Her exasperated groans start to fill the room.
Tess attempts to change tactics and turn it into a ground war but Lilith’s skills are too high. Another crunching submission is in store.
Lilith opens up her bag and pulls out more weapons. As Tess tries to escape, Lilith follows and skillfully and painfully applies a powerful rear naked choke which has Tess wheezing and she taps out.
As the submissions climb, there is a moment of humor when Lilith has Tess crunch in a floor body scissors and arm bar combination. The pain is so great that as Tess taps out she slaps Lilith’s stomach so loud the audience gasps and then seeing that it was accidental, laughs.
Tess does have her moments as Lilith, on top of her tries to smother her but arms clasped in resistance, Tess says no.
Good move and a show of strength but Lilith then rolls her and applies a rear naked choke.
This gorgeous brunette from the Czech Republic has too many weapons. Tess escapes one hold and rolls into another.
Then the coaching from the audiences begins with someone yelling to Tess to keep her chin down. Normally good advice, but not against Lilith who continues to choke her out anyway.
What we loved about this match is that undermanned, Tess fought like a Spartan and clearly did not give up, right up until the end.

The lore of the Spartans continue to live on.
“Here is courage, mankind’s finest possession, here is the noblest prize that a young man can endeavor to win.”….. ancientgreekbattles.net
Even in the world of tattoos. At the intriguing site thoughtfultattoos.com they speak to this. “Spartan warriors?the deadliest warriors ever! Sparta is known for its brilliant system of laws made by the great philosopher Lycurgus. A famous quote by him about his army reads as follows “wall of men, instead of bricks”. The trend of tattoos started with this quote as its foundation. People who opt for Spartan warrior tattoos have discipline and are fearless in all their endeavors.”
They then add a very interesting point.
“Warrior tattoos are pretty popular and convey one’s approach towards life. The tattoos depict one who possesses an invincible spirit, shows remarkable courage, and is always ready to lay down his life during a war.”
This applies to both women and men.
The beautiful nicely fit female warriors who grace our competitive female submission wrestling industry are proof of that.
