Pausing to catch your breath after being caught off guard, obsessing with the beauty of a stranger, is sometimes a life altering occurrence, especially if the attraction is mutual.
A song that can encase you in the emotional vapors of the moment is Berlin’s American 1980’s rock classic, Take My Breath Away.
“Take My Breath Away” is a song written by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock for the film Top Gun. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song in 1986.
Watching every motion in my foolish lover’s game
On this endless ocean finally lovers know no shame
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion as you turn around and say
Take my breath away
Take my breath away
Caught off guard, when you engage your first glance upon Giulia Steingruber, she’ll take your breath away.
Giulia, born on March of 1994, is a Swiss artistic gymnast. She competed for Switzerland at the 2012 Summer Olympics and is a European all-around (2015), vault (2013, 2014, and 2016) and floor champion (2016). She is the first Swiss female gymnast to win the European all-around title.
At the 2015 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Giulia won the all-around title ahead of Maria Kharenkova of Russia and Ellie Downie of Great Britain, with a score of 57.873.
In June of 2015 she competed at the 2015 European Games held in Baku, along with teammates Jessica Diacci and Caterina Barloggio. She won the silver medal in the all-around, with a score of 56.699.
In addition, she won the gold medal on vault, with a total score of 14.999 and on floor, with a score of 14.266. She was also the bronze medalist on the balance beam, with a 13.700.
Later, she competed in the 2015 Glasgow World Championships. She qualified to the All Around Final (she finished 5th) Floor and Vault Finals.
Her passion for her sport started at age 7 and continued with fire when she left home at 14 years old and traveled to Magglingen, Switzerland to pursue it fulltime.
She is still very close with her family. Her parents run her website and she realizes that without parental and family support, it’s impossible to achieve what she has accomplished.
That is a glorious past.
Breathtaking
Giulia brings us into the present with an eye to the future at her website giulia-steingruber.ch. “My name is Giulia Steingruber. I train at least 28 hours a week. Yes, you could say I’m ambitious, but sometimes stubborn and totally disorganized, too. At least, that’s what my parents say. But let’s start at the beginning: I was born in Gossau on 24 March 1994. I first encountered my great love, gymnastics, seven years later. When I have time off, I like to go out with friends or watch ice hockey.”
Very down to earth.
Perhaps we can briefly skate with her back to her home town.
As of December 31, 2014, Gossau has a population of 18,053.
As of 2007, about 18.4% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Of the foreign population, (as of 2000), 168 are from Germany, 487 are from Italy, 1,574 are from ex-Yugoslavia, 105 are from Austria, 214 are from Turkey, and 496 are from another country.[6] Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 3.9%. Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (88.4%), with Serbo-Croatian being second most common (4.2%) and Italian being third (2.1%).
Of the Swiss national languages (as of 2000), 14,855 speak German, 48 people speak French, 349 people speak Italian, and 24 people speak Romansh.
Now that is an example of truly getting to know and understand your hometown.
In our exhaustive time researching cities, we don’t know if we’ve ever seen the inhabitants of a city broken down with that much detail.
We now move from a small wonderful place to a greater platform.
It’s great to have people in high places have their breath taken away and fall in love with her at first sight.
That’s what happened with her sponsor Longines.
In terms of her elegance, class and beauty, they know what time it is.
They praise and glow, “All-around European Champion, the Swiss gymnast Giulia Steingruber became a Longines Ambassador of Elegance in 2014.
The twenty-two-year-old Giulia Steingruber from Gossau has been Swiss Champion for the last four years in the individual all-around. She also grabbed the first place several times in the floor and in apparatus disciplines. Voted “Swiss Athlete of the Year” in 2013, Giulia Steingruber has been excelling at the European Championships, notably in winning the gold medal in the individual all-around as well as the silver medal in the vault and the bronze medal in the floor in 2015 in Montpellier, France.
She also won the gold medal in the vault two years in a row, in 2013 and in 2014. Describing herself as ambitious, Giulia trains hard day after day and her steady progression within the past years has resulted in her performing at the highest level of the discipline. The young gymnast is already focused on her next goal: to win a medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.”
Very inspiring.
I can hear additional hypnotic verses from Berlin.
Watching every motion in this foolish lover’s game
Haunted by the notion somewhere there’s a love in flames
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion as you turn my way and say
Take my breath away, my love.
Dieter Friedrich Uchtdorf is a German aviator, airline executive and widely respected religious leader. He was once quoted as expressing, “There are few things that have filled me with such breathless awe as flying in the black of night across oceans and continents and looking out my cockpit window upon the infinite glory of millions of stars.”
Admiring her performances, inspired by the external praises heaped upon her, and mesmerized by her fresh faced youthful beauty, whether it’s on the bar or gracefully performing on the gymnastic floor………..
Gorgeous Perfection
Swiss star Giulia Steingruber can instantly take your breath away.
