There is a line of thinking that although we all inhabit the same Terra Firma, given the differences between lifestyles unlimited and those very limited; we might as well walk in different dimensions.
No industry might induce that feeling more than the Hotel Industry.
You may suppress that feeling when you walk by luxury high rise hotels and spacious resorts visited by the well-heeled while the hotel you stay in has rumbling wall air conditioning and more spots on the rug than a large Dalmatian.
Coming to the rescue….again, is Marriott Hotels and their endless array of enjoyable choices that make all of us feel we live in the lap of luxury at a reasonable price.
This writer has always loved the Courtyard which keeps it simple but very stylish and well done.
There is a new breed of Marriott Hotel on the horizon that speaks to the newer generation of Millennials.
Marriott’s newest brand in the category, Moxy was developed after consumer research about “Millennials” or next generation travelers.
The respected information source forbes.com reports, “Luxury might be a bit of a stretch, but the positioning is relative to other hotels at similar price points, between $80 and less than $200 per night. As opposed to full-service, do-it yourself means self-service food with a cashier in lieu of waiters, no room service and no doormen.”
While they are new, Moxy Hotels is not shy. Here is how they describe themselves.
It’s just like home, but with a bartender.
“Forget what you know about budget hotels. At the Moxy, we’ve ripped all that up and started over. We kept premium comforts, convenient services, and, made it chic, modern, with a vibrant social scene. Because why shouldn’t you have it all? (Hint: You should.)
We tossed out stodgy suits and forever check-in lines and created a stylish atmosphere where self-service means you can do what you want, when you want without holding you up. Because you know how you take your coffee – or your Manhattan – and you have places to be.
We’re not what you’re used to. We’re better.
Where we really splurge is on modern residential design, high-speed Wi-Fi, a buzzing living space where things are always happening, and a seriously comfortable bed so you can kick off your shoes and get rested for whatever comes next. It’s just like home, but with a bartender.
WE MAKE THIS LOOK GOOD.
Of course we did our homework. We had some of the best design teams find out what people love most, or could live without, at a hotel. Turns out most folks never use their closets. So, we kept some room for your stuff, but made more space for a sweet 42” TV and an even sweeter bed.
Also, apparently we’re not the only ones who wince at instant coffee. We brew up fresh joe downstairs in the lobby every day so no one has to know you’re not a morning person. And while you’re there, you’ll find all the amenities and comforts (not to mention games, grab-and-go bites, and a full-service bar) you’d expect of a boutique hotel, only at an affordable price.
Welcome to Moxy. You have arrived.”
Hmm, it takes a lot of moxie to be that excited.
A great business information source business.time.com seems to be excited as well. “Hotel giant Marriott announced that it was partnering with the Swedish furniture maker IKEA to create a new brand called Moxy Hotels.
So what do millennial travelers want in a hotel, according to Moxy’s designers? What is that “younger sensibility” all about? A few key phrases plucked from the press release offer some clues: “Economy Tier”.
Moxy rooms will be offered at price points and amenity levels somewhere in between a hostel and a four-star hotel. Typical nightly rates will range from $80 to $100. Considering that today’s millennials are living with high unemployment and underemployment amid a global economic slump, the below-average hotel price point is apparently a necessity. Younger consumers have also shown a reluctance to pay for things that older generations consider necessities, including cars and their own independent living quarters—and perhaps also upscale hotel staples like concierges and room service.”
It’s always great to get a second opinion and an interesting one is shared at shermanstravel.com, “Combining style and comfort with affordability and a community atmosphere, Moxy Hotels, from Marriott International, look to be an easy and hassle-free place for you to lay your head.
In keeping with the brand’s goal of offering affordable rooms with plenty of style, smart design is key. Every inch of space is used wisely. Visitors will find plenty of plugs for electronics near the beds, modern lighting, 42-inch TV, foldable table, comfy chairs, and pegs for clothing. For each room, there’s also a full-size bathroom with a shower, vanity, and upscale amenities. Add in ultra-fast WiFi and the comfortable living space is complete.
Unlike many budget hotels that have a depressing lobby with few amenities, the Moxy’s is meant to be a place to relax, unwind, and have a cocktail or a bite to eat. It takes after the new breed of chic hostels that we’ve fallen for. With a modern, industrial vibe, the lobby boasts plenty of seating, a full-service bar, coffee bar, microwave ovens, and a large self-service wall stocked with drinks, snacks, and full meals that’s accessible 24/7. They even have communal games (like Cards Against Humanity!) as well as other amusing items to make you want to hang out and linger.”
Lingering sounds very social. Ideal for the social media age.
We love you female submission wrestlers and always want to present options and choices to you. It’s a given that Marriott builds a variety of great hotels. It’s nice to know that given how much many of you travel and sometimes budget is a factor, that there is a hotel that is designed specifically for your travel and social needs.
