The film initially was obscure but eventually would evolve into a cult classic in large part because of the beautiful teenage girl involved.
When night-shift custodian Jim (Frank Whaley) is accidentally locked up alone in the store he cleans, he realizes he has access to the entire building and decides to indulge in the abundance of free food and merchandise at his fingertips. Surprisingly, he bumps into local rich girl Josie (Jennifer Connelly), who is also imprisoned in the store for the night, and they quickly bond.
Career Opportunities is a movie that connected in large part because whoever this young Jennifer Connelly is, not only is she breathtakingly beautiful, she is clearly something else as well.
A winner.
Most Stanford graduates are.
When you look at the gorgeous curvy model Kamie Crawford, some things will be revealed later yet something is extremely clear at first glance.
In the game of life, Kamie is a beautiful winner.
“A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.”…… Larry Bird
Our future model graduated from Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland in 2010 where she was captain of the varsity cheerleading team.
Kamie Crawford was crowned Miss Teen USA 2010 on July 24, 2010 at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas. Upon being crowned, Ms. Crawford won a $100,000 scholarship, trips, clothes, and got to share a New York City apartment with Donald Trump‘s other titleholders.
She made history by being the first contestant from Maryland to win the title.
Contestants in the Miss Teen USA 2010 contest were from 50 states and the District of Colombia.
Prior to winning Miss Teen USA, Kamie was selected into the medical program for the Congressional Student Leadership Conference at Georgetown University.
World?
She was just beginning.
The entertaining and informative site allure.com smiles, “After winning Miss Teen USA in 2010, Crawford signed with JAG Models. She was featured in Essence in “Curvy Model of the Month” in 2014. Crawford is also a TV host who has appeared on NBC, Telemundo, and BET, as well as a global ambassador for Same Sky, an organization that provides assistance to HIV-positive survivors of the Rwandan genocide.”
Very stellar.
Did we mention that she also graduated from Fordham University with a BA in communications and media studies and double concentration in TV and radio and digital media?
She is now one of the elite models in the world.
Launched on July 1, 2013, the unique JAG Models is an agency catering to women of all sizes.
The Co-founders Jaclyn Sarka and Gary Dakin have been in the industry for a combined 25 years and represent some of the industry’s top talent. Never ones to take no for an answer, or stick to conventional representation, they have placed girls in editorials and covers of such esteemed publications as Vogue, Elle, V, French and Bazaar.
Jamie is in great company.
“Some people say I have attitude – maybe I do… but I think you have to. You have to believe in yourself when no one else does – that makes you a winner right there.”… Venus Williams
Kamie enjoys computers and technology, and credits designing websites as one of her hobbies. She also enjoys modeling, makeup artistry, and shopping.
Our star is the daughter of Victor and Carla Crawford and is the oldest of five girls, Victoria, Karynton, and twins, Kenadi and Kendal.
It’s time to visit the village that helped shaped Jamie.
Potomac is located in Maryland, named for the nearby Potomac River.
In 2013, CNNMoney.com listed Potomac as the most affluent town in all the United States based on median household income.
Potomac is also the seventh most top-educated American small town according to Forbes.
Bloomberg Businessweek labeled Potomac as the twenty-ninth richest zip code in the United States in 2011, stating that it had the largest population of any U.S. town with a median income of more than $240,000.
In 2012, The Higley Elite 100 published a list of highest-income neighborhoods by mean household income, which included four neighborhoods in Potomac; one of these neighborhoods, “Carderock-The Palisades” was ranked the highest-income neighborhood in the United States, followed by “Beverly Hills-North of Sunset” in Beverly Hills, CA, and “Swinks Mill-Dominion Reserve” of Mclean, VA.
More recently, two Potomac neighborhoods were ranked among the ten wealthiest neighborhoods in the United States by CNBC in 2014.
Many Potomac residents work in nearby Washington, D.C.
As they so often do, the global travel site lonelyplanet.com capsulizes it best regarding the awe inspiring region that influenced Kamie’s ascension to stardom. “No matter your politics, it’s hard not to fall for the nation’s capital. Iconic monuments, vast (and free) museums and venerable restaurants serving global cuisines are just the beginning of the great DC experience. There’s much to discover: leafy, cobblestoned neighborhoods, sprawling markets, heady multicultural nightspots and verdant parks – not to mention the corridors of power, where visionaries and demagogues alike still roam.
Beyond the Beltway, the diverse landscapes of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Delaware offer potent enticement to travel beyond the marble city. Craggy mountains, rushing rivers, vast nature reserves (including islands where wild horses run), sparkling beaches, historic villages and the magnificent Chesapeake Bay form the backdrop to memorable adventures: sailing, hiking, rafting, camping or even just sitting on a pretty stretch of shoreline, planning the next seafood feast. It’s a place where traditions run deep, from the nation’s birthplace to Virginia‘s still-thriving bluegrass scene.”
If you could choose a place of birth and begin anew, wouldn’t the Potomac area be high on your list of considerations?
I think we can see how Kamie was destined to be a winner.
In an interview with allure.com, when asked about the people that greatly inspired her, Kamie spoke about her family.
When researching her interviews and accomplishments, Kamie speaks constantly about the need to for women to see themselves as beautiful and constantly look for ways to improve.
“If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride – and never quit, you’ll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards”………. Paul Bryant
We can’t all be born in wonderful regions like Kamie’s Potomac, but I sense we all know the first step in life that propels us to travel it as a winner and live the life not chosen for us, but the one that we desire, is to believe in ourselves.
When everyone is gone and you are left in the privacy of your thoughts………
You MUST believe that you are a winner.
Kamie beautifully taught us that.
