Sometimes it truly does take two, to far exceed what only one can.
That sounds like a great marriage.
That also sounds like a timeless and precious song. I’m trying to remember. Can you help? My memory seems to be blocked.
Okay thanks. Got it.
It was the classic “It Takes Two“, which was a hit single recorded in late 1965 by Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston for Motown‘s Tamla label.
Produced by Weston’s then-husband, longtime Gaye collaborator William “Mickey” Stevenson, and co-written by Stevenson and Sylvia Moy, “It Takes Two” centered on a romantic lyric which depicted many things in life (dreams, love, wishes, etc.) being better with two people instead of one.
One can have dream, baby
Two can make that dream so real
One can talk about being in love
Two can say how it really feels
One can wish upon a star
Two can make that wish come true (Yeah!)
One can stand alone in the dark
Two can make the lights shine through
Chorus (Both):
It takes two, baby
It takes two, baby
Me and you
Just take two
Thank you so much Kim and Marvin.
Let’s talk about Fitness Models who typically come in ones, but are in sensational twos.
https://femcompetitor.com/fitness-beauties/
That seems to be the industry standard but leave it to Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott to shake and bake things up with double the mojo and twice the juice.
To express that they are successful Fitness Models is like saying Adele, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, are moderately successful singers.
These two beach babes are mega fitness stars. Let’s do a meet and greet. As they say on the beaches of Southern California……
Let’s take a meeting.
Attire casual. Very.
At their dynamic and vibrant site toneitup.com they smile, “Karena and Katrina, the founders of the Tone It Up have brought a fresh approach to fitness with their fun, energetic, girlfriend-to-girlfriend method of getting fit. Since founding Tone It Up, they have built a brand of fitness products, community, retreats, nutrition plans and have graced the pages of Shape, SELF, In Style, Women’s Health and featured in Forbes and People.
Their Tone It Up Nutrition Programs and beach workouts inspire millions of women to live the life of their dreams every day.”
The two beauties produce workout videos and lead fitness challenges throughout the year along with selling various product lines that include their workout DVDs and nutrition plans, Perfect Fit protein powder, and branded exercise apparel and equipment.
This my friends is the ultimate Girl Friend experience. Cable TV eat your heart out.
Speaking of TV, as a matter of fact, they have Cable TV, the energetic Bravo eating out of their hands where they are featured on a reality TV show. You can see some of the previews online.

After doing some research online, we came away with the feeling that we knew who the double fit twins were.
Guess what?
We were completely wrong. Once we became voyeurs in the TV lives, we could see that they are completely different than we imagined. More human.
Yes they have episodes about how large corporations are courting them to fashion their products and clothes, like Oakley did and they have meetings with DVD and video producers too.
Still much of who they are as individuals are revealed as well, warts and all.
Loved the show. We here at Fem Competitor are not alone in our love of these two bright and shining So. Cal beauties.
Sara Gaynes Levy, a very creative writer for glamour.com shares, “If you’re anything like me, you’re a little bit obsessed with fitness/hair icons Katrina Scott and Karena Dawn, better known as the Tone It Up girls. The BFFs have created a workout empire that includes everything from nutrition plans to an exclusive activewear collab with NYC athleisure hot spot Bandier.
And listen, they know you might have slacked off a little bit on your sweat sessions while it was miserable and freezing out all winter—no shame! But if you’re ready to kick it back into high gear, look no further. Check out Karena and Katrina’s tips for getting your workout and nutrition spring-ready.”
The lively and very down to earth writer Heeseung Kim at cosmopolitan.com didn’t just research them, she actually participated in their training program.
On April 21, 2016, she smiles, “Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott, also known as the Tone It Up Girls, could be your best friends, if your best friends happened to be ripped as hell. They are your trainers, your cheerleaders, your #goals, all in one. Picture in your mind two mermaids — that’s them. Karena is the long-legged brunette and Katrina the boisterous blonde. Both are extremely fit and have the kind of cascading curls that people in New York assume everyone in California has. They are the picture-perfect display of fitness and health that we’re all taught to want.
In 2009, Katrina, a personal trainer, and Karena, a sports model, met at a gym in Southern California. From there, a friendship was born, followed by a blog that has since morphed into a comprehensive fitness website, an app, and a community boasting 294,000 members. Between their personal Instagram account, @KarenaKatrina, and their brand account @ToneItUp, they have 1.2 million followers.”
Okay, I’ll admit to wanting to follow them. So guest where they shoot their sunny show?
Manhattan Beach in Southern Cal. Gotta luv that.
The innovative travel site Lonely Planet is enamored as well. “If Manhattan Beach had its own magazine, it would surely be called Gorgeous Living. Classy beachside cottages, bougainvillea-lined walk-streets, bustling sidewalk patios, friendly boutiques, surfers silhouetted against the setting sun, and babies who never seem to cry – all within half a mile of a portrait-worthy pier. It’s that impossibly perfect.”
We could go on all day, week, month and year about Katrina and Karena.
Heck, we could go on all decade.
Their story could be as extensive and warm as the sands on Manhattan Beach.
If you want to get a good jump start, simply visit their more than 35 videos at:

Double the fun, twice the beauty, coupled with an effective and fun workout program, these two sunny bunnies are possibly starting a new trend.
As Marvin and Kim said, sometimes it takes two babes.
