Everyone has a story to tell.
Everyone has one life to live.
Live it to the full.
If your life were a movie, and in some ways it is, as you live it now, divide it up into a time pie.
How much of the pie is spent in the past, the present or the future. We think we would agree, hopefully much of it is spent in the present.
Compare trying to improve and build your life to the process a team goes through from start to finish in the film making process.
First there is the idea. The concept.
What is the big idea?
Well, it has to do with what future you would like to see for yourself. We would think that not only would you want to flesh out the idea on paper but brainstorm it with friends and family members. They will tell you if it is a great idea, or diplomatically if it is not, but has potential.
Spend some time on it to turn potential into better.
Next, it is time to write your script or action plan.
Typically the components of life improvement are categorical. Health is first. Without good health, little else matters. Then finance. Whatever your new life will encompass, you will need money to pull it off.
Let’s keep it simple and hope that you are content to be single or are involved in a loving relationship. If not, that is an entire project by itself.
So focusing on health, walking, running, going to the gym and eating better is written into your health script. Saving money or taking on more work is written into your financial storyline.
The next and perhaps most important concept is how you would like to improve or extend the lifestyle you already have or begin to plan out and create a new one. Especially if you just turned empty nest.
Most potential films at this stage will require a team of people to help make the dream come true.
You most likely will need a team as well, even if it is a small one.
Then comes the follow through. Planning, saving money and brainstorming only goes so far. You have to take steps, make sacrifices and follow through.
Which now brings us to the movie part.
As odd as this concept might seem, we have found that when you want to achieve something new and important, don’t reinvent the wheel. Research what others have done and simply imitate it.
For example, one of our associates built a great high school female tennis player from scratch.
After campaigns of 4-10 and 3-11 won loss records, he personally analyzed her skills and guided her to a sensational 16-4 record, a place in the league’s “Final Four”, she led her team to the playoffs for the first time in school history and was named team MVP.
At one she was nesting at 13-0, all victories won in 2 sets.
What was his coaching credentials?
He had none. Never coached before.
So he learned from his trips to Japan, don’t reinvent the wheel. Take what someone else does, copy it and then make it better. Perfect it.
So here, since he played football in high school, he simply adopted football principles to build her arsenal since she had no real weapons. Her new skillset would be conditioning. She practiced everyday in 100 degree weather and did double sessions on Saturday and Sunday, just like he did in high school football.
She would simply keep her opponent’s ball in play, let them make unforced errors and then keep them out in the hot sun for an hour or more until they wilted.
He read the legendary San Francisco 49er’s Bill Walsh’s book and scripted her matches ahead of time, just as he gleaned Mr. Walsh did for the first quarter of the 49er’s games.
It worked to perfection.
Have you ever read how a Hollywood film is produced from start to finish? We have a suggestion.
Perhaps read it, enhance it, and then perfect it.
