July 20, 2023,
People are talking.
Talking about who?
About you, that’s who.
Your friends (some, so called), your relatives (some that don’t like you), your work associates, (hopefully some that are jealous of you), your parents (hopefully proud of you) and others.
Why?
It’s not that you are famous, it is because that is what people do. Talk a lot.
At parties.
At lunch.
In bed.
They talk. A lot.
About other people.
We have one associate, who was a leader in organized religion, who would get invited to dinners often. At first he attended many of them. Then he slowly stopped going. Why? Because even though the rank and file members knew they were not supposed to, they gossiped.
All the time.
Which now brings us to the punch line. The big question.
When people focus on you and your life, when they talk about you, does that conversation use you as a person to imitate or as a cautionary tale?
Hopefully the first category.
And you know what, sometimes it is gossip and sometimes, maybe some it is actually true.
What will tend to place you in one category or another? Your decision making.
Try and make good decision early in your life. There are the big categories.
Friends, associates and relationships.
Question?
Are the people you bring into your life adding positive things to it or otherwise? Are they bringing conflict? Are they influencing you to participate in things that are bad for you? Can we be direct?
Like drinking, drugs and partying?
Time for a real life example. If you have been following us, you know that many of our examples are from real life. It is often the best teacher. And a wonderful one. Especially if you are not the star of the story in a cautionary tale.
Simone is the star of this cautionary tale.
When Simone was young, it was as though she made great decisions. She worked as a teen, paid for her own car and eventually paid for her own college education and paid off her student loans in less than 2 years after graduation.
Then she joined an International organized religion.
She was repeatedly warned not to.
She eventually met people who slowly stole her money, brought bad people (with a soft smile) into her circle of influence and literally destroyed her life.
Simone left the religion.
She is now doing better but has a lot of ground to catch up.
Especially financially.
What was Simone’s big mistake?
She stopped living the life she wanted and began living a life based upon what she was told to do.
Again, a very true story.
In your decision making, learn from Simone’s very devastating story. Try very hard to find out what it is that you want to do, how you want to live your life and follow that pathway. Living a life where you are told what to do is a disaster.

What a wonderful thought. A dream life that you want.
Not one that someone, often who you don’t know, in leadership positions far away, who are telling you what you need to do with your life and they haven’t even met you.
Making and saving money is extremely important.
At some point in your life’s journey, you will need it. A lot of it. So, just because you are making good money now, don’t spend most of it.
Save most of it.
Not just for a rainy day but to build towards something larger, like purchasing a Condo or home, that will make your life a lot easier, especially as you age.
One more trip to the bookstore.
How to Budget & Manage Your Money: Financial Planning Book for Beginners. How to Save Money Faster, Pay Off Debt and Control Your Finances (Smart Personal Money Management Series) Paperback – May 4, 2020
By Rachel Mercer (Author)
“In this simple personal budgeting book, you will learn how to make a realistic budget that actually worksand you can stick to, to reach your financial goals faster and to take control of your finances.
This book is different in that, instead of just throwing you some tips, you will begin at a starting point that many people try to skip. And that is, to assess Where you are Right now.
The road to wealth is paved with goals, without financial goals, you have no direction, so it’s easy to spend money on things you’ll regret later. But if you’re saving for a house, your son’s college education, or a new car, your goal will keep you focused.
Financial success is more about mastering the mental game of money than about understanding numbers. The math is simple: it’s controlling your habits and emotions that’s hard.”
Good point.
So there you have it. Two major points.
Live the life that you want for yourself. Make and save money.
Make sense?
It’s not pie in the sky. Again, live the way you love, for you. How is that pie in the sky?
Save your money. Not pie in the sky.
By applying those two important principles, you will be the star of the story, when people are talking about you. You can’t stop people from talking.
The beautiful thing about your story?
It will be one of success and not a cautionary tale.
