May 9, 2021,
Great expectations of innovation and a unique voice are projected upon the receiver when your name is Vision Films.
Film aficionados beat a path to your door hoping for enlightenment in an industry dominated by formulas, corporate money and focus groups.
Predictability is nice in family life, a steady work paycheck and city street cleaning but not in Independent films that should offer us insights into the world around us that may propel us to become involved or at least donate to important causes.
In the chaotic world we live in, there are so many causes to avoid or get involved in.
In reviewing the library of Vision Films, we were very impressed and made uneasy.
Uneasy is an uncomfortable feeling but a good one as well.
Take a look at some of the titles.
BLOOD & OIL
“When commercial-grade oil was discovered in the small village of Oloibiri, Nigeria, prosperity and employment became their way of life. Two decades after the last drops were drilled and the US oil companies abandoned them, all the village was left with was polluted water, sick children, and an unstable economy.
When a new multinational corporation strikes oil again, rage intensifies and Nigerian militants, led by a hardened killer named Gunpowder (Richard Mofe-Damijo), seek revenge on the greedy foreigners by kidnapping Powell, (William R. Moses) the company’s CEO. Families become divided as the village elder, Timpriye (Olu Jacobs) struggles with saving the life of this man who represents all the evils that oil brought to his village so many years ago.”
Talk about being in a rock and hard spot.
If you lived in that once thriving village, uncomfortable is a euphemism.
The uncomfortable part is that even from a distance, civil unrest appears to be coming to a theater near you.
This is based upon a true story. We wish it weren’t.
Here is another intriguing story destined to spread enlightenment.
HOT MONEY
“Confused by the economy, derivatives, cost of energy, and taxes? You are not alone. Untangle the realities of the global financial system and its relationship to government, politics and climate change with all the humor of a New Yorker cartoon. DON’T GET BURNED, JOIN THE CONVERSATION.”

Very impressive. If you haven’t heard of them before they are clearly a team to keep on your radar.
From our view being made to feel uncomfortable is far better than being formula sedated.
Vision Films has a new project you should know about.
Being trapped in this pandemic, even with the distribution of vaccines, we have asked ourselves the question, will we ever be able to walk around and fully engage in all of life’s activities without wearing a mask?
We’re not so sure.
Vision Films speaks to that.
If the title makes you a little uncomfortable, remember, that’s a good thing.
