May 9, 2021,
Though most parents don’t want to admit it, but is it possible among their children, they have a favorite?
Sure they do. Sometimes. Maybe many times.
Just keep that quiet. That’s just between us.
When it comes to musical groups that we love, we all have our loves. The group as a whole is amazing but within the group we have our favorites.
The Pussycat Dolls are an incredible group of talented ladies. Love them all. But we have to admit, we really dig Jessica Sutta.
She is our favorite.
Now for a little bit of history.
The Pussycat Dolls are an American girl group and dance ensemble, founded in Los Angeles, California, by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995 as a burlesque troupe.
At the suggestion of Jimmy Iovine, Ms. Antin decided to take the burlesque troupe mainstream as a pop group.
She negotiated a record deal with Interscope Geffen A&M Records in 2003 turning the group into a music franchise comprising Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton, and Kimberly Wyatt.
Ring the bell. Their debut single, “Sway“, was featured on the soundtrack of the 2004 film Shall We Dance?
Their success soon blossomed.
With success comes challenges.
The Pussycat Dolls achieved worldwide success with internationally successful singles “Don’t Cha“, “Stickwitu“, “Buttons“, and their multi-platinum debut album PCD (2005).
Word on the street has it that despite their commercial success, the group was plagued by internal conflict due to the emphasis on Nicole, the group’s lead vocalist.
See? Didn’t we tell you? Everyone has their favorites.
Carmit Bachar’s departure from the group preceded the release of their second and final studio album Doll Domination (2008), which contains hit singles “When I Grow Up“, “I Hate This Part“, and “Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)“.
Sad news.
Following the completion of their 2009 world tour, the group went on hiatus and fully disbanded in 2010.
Now for the good news.
As reported at bbc.com, “It’s now been officially announced that Nicole and Carmit, along with Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt and Jessica Sutta, are all set to return for nine live UK shows in April 2020.”
We were ecstatic.
Then came the Coronavirus and more bad news.
Like virtually every other musical band and solo performers, the Pussycat Dolls had to delay their tour.
At least the delay is temporary.
Hey, we were just glad to see they are back on friendly terms.
That way we can enjoy more of Jessica Sutta. Our favorite.
The song that put us over the rainbow was Show Me. We’re going to try and sing a few bars. Here goes:
Love is not a gimme, gimme
If you really with me you gotta
Show me, show me
Show me, show me
Tell it to me with your mouth
But when it all comes down
You gotta show me, show me
Show me, show me
What really makes this gem come alive is watching Jessica’s video of her performing this in a pulsating night club. It is incredible.
We have listened to it and danced and dreamed with it in the dark over and over again.
Along with that, Jessica is incredibly good looking. In fact, she’s absolutely gorgeous.
A little more about Jessica, our favorite.
Spicy and foxy, Jessica was born and raised in Miami.
Our beauty developed an interest in dance from a young age and went on to become a one-time captain squad Miami Heat‘s cheerleading squad.
After venturing into acting, Jessica moved to Los Angeles in 2003 and began dancing alongside the burlesque troupe, The Pussycat Dolls. Perfect match.
Jessica was included in the group’s transition into a recording act and released the albums PCD (2005) and Doll Domination (2008) earning Jessica a Grammy Award nomination and becoming one of the world’s best-selling girl groups of all time.
Drum roll please.
Jessica’s debut single, “Show Me“, reached number one on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in the United States. Her debut solo studio album I Say Yes, was released on March 3, 2017.
She says yes, we say yeah.
Our talented beauty has ventured into film as well.
As an actress, she was part of the original cast in the Swedish American soap opera known as Ocean Ave., alongside Megan Fox, where she played Jody Starr, a pill-poppin’ Gothic teenager.
Jessica has also appeared in the movie From Justin to Kelly, a 2003 American romantic comedy musical film, and Bully where she played Blonde.
Spreading her wings, Jessica had a brief role in the 2003 film Bad Boys II. She was also hosting a show for a Miami-based cable network called “SoBe in the Night”. In 2007, she appeared on an episode of the game show Identity in disguise as a Pussycat Doll.
Very clever.
Now straight to video.
In 2007, Jessica appeared in a series of video ads on MySpace for Unilever‘s Axe body spray, as part of their ‘Bom Chicka Wah Wah’ campaign. The ads took the form of instructional dance videos, with Jessica displaying ‘sexy’ dance moves.
We know by her Show Me video that she can do that well.
In 2010, Jessica appeared in FHM Magazine’s “100 Sexiest Women in the World”, ranking at No. 71. Number 71? They should vote again, this time with their eyes open and fingers popping.
Jessica is always number one in our book.
It is wonderful to hear that the news for our gorgeous doll just keeps getting better.
On March 8, 2021, regarding Jessica, people.com reported, “The Pussycat Dolls singer is pregnant, expecting her first child — a son! — with husband Mikey Marquart, she revealed to Entertainment Tonight. Sutta, who married Marquart in September 2019, said she is due in May.”
Congratulations to Jessica.
We look forward to more performances from Jessica. It appears that there is no ceiling as to what this dynamic Floridian can do. We will keep watching and waiting.
Until then we’re going to keep dancing to Show Me to stay in shape and keep dreaming about our future.
When you have a favorite singer like Jessica Sutta, love is not a gimme, gimme, if we’re really with her, we gotta show her, show her, love.
Hopefully here, we’ve showed her some special love.
