April 26, 2021,
Pretentious, shallow, insincere and contentious.
They drink a lot of alcohol too with fancy last names that you may have never heard of.
Those last names certainly did not exist in our Texas neighborhood.
And the cars. Wait, they don’t drive cars. It’s New York City. They are driven in limos.
With a tight smile on their face they will issue lines like, “I always knew that you were a whore. I didn’t know you were a liar too”.
Ouch. Could you please say what you are really thinking?
That’s who they are and you know what? You can’t wait to be one of them, be with them or do the next best thing.
Watch them on TV.
Why?
Because they are also young, cool, witty, absolutely gorgeous and very rich.
No, make that super rich.
They have last names like Van Der Woodsen.
Do you know any Van Der Woodsens?
Inquiring minds would like to know.
Gossip Girl is an American teen drama television series based on the book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar. The series, created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, originally ran on The CW network for six seasons from September 19, 2007, to December 17, 2012.
It starred some of the most beautiful up and coming actresses that ever prowled Manhattan in designer threads by night and freshly starched school girl uniforms by day.
Here is the storyline (as if you didn’t already know).
Narrated by the omniscient blogger “Gossip Girl” (voiced by Kristen Bell), the series revolves around the lives of privileged upper-class adolescents living in Manhattan‘s Upper East Side (UES).
The series begins with the return of Upper East Side teenage it girl Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) from a mysterious absence.
She is reunited with her frenemy Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and her mother Lily van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford), while she also meets Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley), an aspiring writer from Brooklyn. Other main characters are played by Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szohr, Matthew Settle and Kaylee DeFer.
We were all enthralled. So that’s where the word frenemy emanated from.
Come on. You watched too. Who was your favorite?
Leighton Meester was ours.
Blake Lively was the fav of our team at Femcompetitor Magazine.

Top ten lipsticks? That sounds like reviews. Or could it be gossip?
Leighton Marissa Meester is an American actress, singer, songwriter, and model.
Her role on Gossip Girl was one of the devious socialite Blair Waldorf.
She has also appeared in films such as Killer Movie (2008), Country Strong (2010), The Roommate (2011), Monte Carlo (2011), The Oranges (2011) and The Judge (2014). Meester made her Broadway debut in Of Mice and Men (2014). She portrays Angie D’Amato on the ABC sitcom Single Parents (2018–present).
In addition to acting our witty girl also ventured into music. In 2009, she was featured on Cobra Starship‘s “Good Girls Go Bad“, which charted in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100, and released her first single “Somebody to Love” on the Universal Republic label.
More roles would come.
Our darling had small roles in the comedies Date Night and Going the Distance.
Now this is not gossip.
She attended the Professional Children’s School and began working as a model with Wilhelmina, booking a Ralph Lauren campaign shot by Bruce Weber, and working with then-photographer Sofia Coppola.
Yes, it can be verified.
Our sweetie pie also booked commercials for Tamagotchi and Clearasil, and modeled for Limited Too alongside Amanda Seyfried.
At age 14, she relocated to Los Angeles, California and attended Hollywood and Beverly Hills High Schools.
Hmm, moving up in the world. You heard it here first.
Leighton then transferred to a small private school and graduated a year earlier than normal.
She has also modeled, having been the face of brands such as Jimmy Choo, Herbal Essences, and Vera Wang.
G Girl, what up?
Now we’re not gossiping but we bring this up because you know what? If you session with one our great industry Session Girls, you best be on your most gentlemanly behavior. Why?
Because they gossip too.
A euphemism for reviews.
Yes they will talk about your tail if you behave badly and you do not want that.
They don’t seem to have chat rooms or online boards but their inner network and word of mouth can be praise worthy or brutal. Our suggestion when you are with one our Session Girls?
Please be a good boy. They love to talk. We do as well.
With our beautiful babe Leighton there is more.
In 2010 she signed on to be the spokesperson for Herbal Essences hair products.
In the same year, she took part in Bulgari‘s humanitarian efforts for the Save the Children organization with Isabella Rossellini and Maribel Verdú.
Come closer, there is still much more.
She next fronted a beauty campaign for Korean brand eSpoir.
Remember her partnership with Vera Wang (you heard it here first)? Ms. Wang selected her to be the face of the fragrance Lovestruck in 2011, stating that Meester’s “beauty, talent and spirit will inspire all the young women that I hope will enjoy this passionate, new young fragrance.”
Right now we’re feeling passionate. You can thank Leighton for that.
You know what our favorite Leighton role is? You’ll never guess.
The Roommate is a 2011 American psychological thriller directed by Christian E. Christiansen and written by Sonny Mallhi.
In the film Leighton stars with her sexy, crazy roommate Minka Kelly.
Did we say yummy?
You see, we understand weird. One of our associate’s neighbors sweeps her porch at 1:30 in the morning or at other am time slots. What on earth is wrong with sweeping your porch in the daytime and on weekends?
Maybe she’s a vampire.
Seriously. All true. We felt a need to gossip about it.
The Roommate is inspired by the 1992 film Single White Female.
Gee. No big surprise there. Aren’t all crazy gorgeous roommate films inspired by SWF?
What we love about the latest imitation installment is that the two girls made a wonderful couple if only they would go off script.
Then we could gossip about it. After we re-wind it.
Now in case you forgot, in one scene where they are playing Lacrosse, Blake Lively and Leighton get in a fight and wrestle on the grass where their skirts hike up and we can see their panties.
No gossip there. Very true.
Why are you looking at us like that? You wanted to know didn’t you?
Okay then. It’s time for a re-direction. Do not adjust the sound. When we snap our fingers, you will wake up. Concentrate on our voice.
Keep thinking about Leighton.
Keep watching Leighton.
That should be easy.
Snap. Snap.
