January 8, 2022,
Is any kind of news better than no news?
Some seem to think so, especially in Hollywood.
Maybe even in Bollywood.
Been absent from the big screen for a long time and people can forget you.
Time to make some news.
On the other hand, what if you are already incredibly popular in Hollywood and Bollywood?
Keep the good news coming.
Jacqueline Fernandez is a huge Instagram star. Make that massive. No, incredibly gigantic.
It is time to celebrate.
As reported by republicworld.com, “Taking to Instagram, actor Jacqueline Fernandez recently announced that she has crossed the 55 million mark on Instagram and received tons of love from fans.”
That is a lot of love.
Well, Jacqueline deserves it.
Time for a closer look.
Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actress, model and the winner of the Miss Universe Sri Lanka pageant of 2006 who predominantly works in Hindi films.
In 2009, she debuted with Aladin and since then has established a career in the Hindi film industry.
After graduating in mass communication from the University of Sydney and working as a television reporter in Sri Lanka, she joined the modeling industry.
She was crowned Miss Universe Sri Lanka in 2006, and represented her country at Miss Universe 2006.
Then the doors began to open. Fly open.
While on a modeling assignment in India in 2009, Ms. Fernandez successfully auditioned for Sujoy Ghosh‘s fantasy drama Aladin, which marked her acting debut.
Jacqueline had her breakthrough role with the psychological thriller Murder 2 (2011), her first commercial success.
This was followed by glamorous roles in the commercially successful ensemble-comedy Housefull 2 (2012) and the action thriller Race 2 (2013), which garnered her an IIFA Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination. Fernandez went on to star in the top-grossing action film Kick (2014) and the comedies Housefull 3 (2016) and Judwaa 2 (2017).
Variety is the spice of life when you are a future Instagram star.
Alongside her screen acting career, Fernandez has worked as a judge in the ninth season of the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (2016–2017), is a popular celebrity endorser for various brands and products, has participated in stage shows, and is active in humanitarian work.
What type of humanitarian work? It is one thing to keep receiving in this life but a great measure of us is how much we give back. We received free, give free.
For advocating the welfare of animals, Fernandez was named “Woman Of The Year” by PETA (India) in 2014.
The team at koimoi.com educates, “Just in time for International Rabbit Day (September 25), Jacqueline Fernandez, who was seen most recently in the horror comedy ‘Bhoot Police‘, stars in a brand-new People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India campaign that asks everyone to turn their backs on cruelty to rabbits by keeping angora out of their wardrobes.”
International Rabbit Day?
Please explain.
The leaders at nationaltoday.com explain, “International Rabbit Day is celebrated on the fourth Saturday of September every year, falling on September 24 this year. Although we would love to celebrate bunnies every day, this day is especially observed to promote the care and protection of domestic and wild rabbits.
The Rabbit Charity in the U.K. founded International Rabbit Day in 1998. The goal of this initiative is to ensure that rabbits that have been left unprotected or abandoned, find care and permanent shelters. Rabbits are prone to viral diseases and can become easy prey for a lot of animals. This day reminds us that there is more we can do for them.”
Here is something you probably were not aware of. We just learned about this.
They add, “During the early 1950s, a viral disease called myxomatosis proved to be lethal to European rabbits and the initial wave wiped out 99% of the population in Australia. The remaining rabbits were able to develop immunity by the time the subsequent waves came.”
We were not aware they were subject to intense viral infections.
One of our associates had a rabbit as a childhood pet and they are so sweet and wonderful.
Good job Jacqueline for getting involved.
Bugs Bunny would be proud.
In terms of the larger animal kingdom, Jacqueline is inclusive and passionate as well.
In July 2014, Fernandez opened a restaurant in Colombo, Kaema Sutra, in collaboration with Chef Dharshan Munidasa, which specializes in contemporary Sri Lankan cuisine.
Jacqueline lives such an interesting and varied life, she often makes us pause and answer questions.
What is Sri Lankan cuisine and how does it differ from Indian dishes?
Sri Lankan cuisine is known for its particular combinations of herbs, spices, fish, vegetables, rice, and fruits.
The cuisine is highly centered around many varieties of rice, as well as coconut which is a ubiquitous plant throughout the country.
Seafood also plays a significant role in the cuisine, be it fresh fish or preserved fish.
Sri Lanka was historically famous for its cinnamon.
Sounds delicious.
Indian cuisine consists of a variety of regional and traditional cuisines native to the Indian subcontinent. Given the diversity in soil, climate, culture, ethnic groups, and occupations, these cuisines vary substantially and use locally available spices, herbs, vegetables, and fruits.
Many Indian dishes are cooked in vegetable oil, but peanut oil is popular in northern and western India, mustard oil in eastern India, and coconut oil along the western coast, especially in Kerala and parts of southern Tamil Nadu.
The team at wofocu.com add, “Indians tend to eat chicken, lamb, and goat because consuming pork and beef is forbidden in most parts of this country. These red meat options are prohibited in Muslim and Hindu religions because they are considered sacred animals, so poultry and lamb consumption is very high in India. In coastal regions, they also have a lot of seafood in their diet, especially fish, prawns, shrimp, and crab.”
In summary one of the main differences is the use of coconut oil and coconut milk. Indian curries also include coconut, especially in the Kerala region. But Sri Lankan curries contain far more coconut milk than their Indian cuisine.
We’re getting hungry. Maybe visiting Jacqueline’s restaurant will be on our bucket list.
Visiting her Instagram sure is.
With over 55 million followers, we sure have plenty of company.
