February 22, 2025,
It is simple advice and perhaps the best advice.
Agreed upon by most.
When something is very important and does not come easy, you must persevere to get it.
It a cousin to be resilient.
Psychological resilience, or mental resilience, is the ability to cope mentally and emotionally with a crisis, or to return to pre-crisis status quickly. Numerous factors influence a person’s level of resilience. Internal factors include personal characteristics such as self-esteem, self-regulation, and a positive outlook on life.
Perseverance is not giving up. It is persistence and tenacity, the effort required to do something and keep doing it till the end, even if it’s hard.
Let’s face it, the important stepping stones we use to get to a better life is hard. Sometimes very hard.
If you play sports for enjoyment, that is one thing. If you are playing it to get a scholarship or an NIL deal, that is something entirely different.
Some basics.
In college athletics in the United States, a student-athlete who participates in a varsity sport on any and all levels is eligible to profit from their name, image, and likeness (NIL). Historically, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) was the first association to permit pro-am, as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) resisted efforts to compensate college athletes beyond the scholarship and stipend.
The Supreme Court‘s decision in NCAA v. Alston (2021) allows for non-scholarship earned income across every division.
Huge applause.
Now, what was good, just got better.
As reported by cbssports.com, “CBS Sports has obtained a draft version of a bill which is expected to be filed soon in the Illinois house of representatives that means the state joins Alabama and Georgia in exempting NIL money earned by college athletes from state income tax.”
That is mind blowing news. Tax free NIL revenue. Isn’t that worth fighting, scratching and persevering to get, to have your college education paid for? Isn’t it worth the sacrifices?
Speaking of schooling, there is a very special film about perseverance. We’re certain you will be inspired by it.
Akeelah and the Bee is a 2006 American drama film written and directed by Doug Atchison.
It tells the story of Akeelah Anderson (Keke Palmer), an 11-year-old girl who participates in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, her mother (Angela Bassett), her schoolmates, and her coach, Dr. Joshua Larabee (Laurence Fishburne).
The film was developed over a period of 10 years by Atchison, who came up with the initial concept after seeing the 1994 Scripps National Spelling Bee and noting that a majority of the competitors came from well-off socioeconomic backgrounds.
Here is the point.
Mr. Atchison remarked that his theme for the film, deemed an inspirational film, was about overcoming obstacles despite difficult challenges along the way.
Great film.
Along your future pathway, for many, a major hurdle in purchasing the life you want is balancing your budget in times of high inflation.
You must persevere and not fall behind. Avoid debt if you can.
Let’s walk over to the bookstore to glean from an expert.

How to be Debt Free: A proven strategy to take control of your financial freedom by getting rid of debt, loans, student loans repayment, credit card debt, mortgages and more Volume 2

By Phil Wall (Author)
“Today, many people live what is known as “the uncertainty of money”; the poor class and the middle class lived under certain rules of money, and while it is regrettable to say it, it is happening today. After the uncertainty of what may happen, people are acting and living financially according to the old “study an important career, work hard to earn a good salary, save money and spend it.” Not to mention that this system does not currently work; the quiet behind the facts has led the new generations to save money, people sit on a sack of money while they think they are saving it for their benefit or hoping that the situation they are living now will be stabilize, and on the other hand there are those who are “saving to spend later” without understanding that savings lose value, especially when inflation reaches and grows faster than interest paid on savings accounts. If you are those who don’t what to do with money, keep reading

Another area where you will need to persevere is in having a positive spirit. There seems to be a lot of negativity in the world and now things, that used to be at a distance, are affecting our lives directly. In a bad way.
From civil unrest over distant wars to job losses with unprecedented layoffs across America, if you or a loved one are impacted, you have to be persistence and persevere in having a positive attitude and not wallow in disappointment and pain but keep trying to come up with solutions to your problems.
If your situation is such that you have others involved, like children, then you absolutely have to persevere in keeping your life stable and going forward.
What can help you persevere?
The respected team at psychologytoday.com suggest, “People who refuse to give up on achieving specific goals and approach challenges with a positive outlook are at lower risk of clinical depression.”

Approach challenges with a positive spirit.
