Their historical impact goes unquestioned as their performances spoke to their times and kept young and old riveted to television sets.
The records of the greats speak volumes. There is Muhammad Ali at 56-5-0, Joe Louis-66-3-0, Larry Holmes-69-6-0, Jack Johnson-80-13-12, Rocky Marciano-49-0-0, George Foreman-76-5-0, Lennox Lewis-41-2-1, Jack Dempsey-65-6-11, Evander Holyfield-44-10-2 and Joe Frazier-32-4-1.
There are probably millions worldwide who could name more great boxers than United States Presidents.
So it caught me by surprise when I revisited Hot Stuff Hollie and found out that she was the first woman ever inducted into the St. Louis Boxing Hall Of Fame.
Always mystify, mislead and surprise the enemy if possible.…..Stonewall Jackson
When I first began watching Hollie wrestle at Female Wrestling Zone, I saw her as a very good wrestler but made no connection to her boxing greatness.
She speaks to this at her website hotstuffhollie.com, “I’m Hollie Dunaway. Four time world champion pro boxer, wrestler and Penthouse model. I have modeled for years.
My career has been an interesting journey since it began. I think that it may be a story worth telling and I hope that you agree. My career is not like most world champion stories. I had no amateur background and I never really dreamed of being a professional boxer when I was a little kid. Actually, the very first professional boxing match I had ever seen, I was in.
That’s right! The first pro boxing match that I had seen was my pro debut. My entrance into the sport of women’s boxing was accidental at best and the journey to becoming a world champion was a fast, crazy, fun, and exciting adventure all the way.”
Her boxing lore is praised at the female wrestler site WB270. “Hot Stuff is her ring name and she has been boxing professionally for 9 years, collecting 4 world titles. She began wrestling this year and has proved to be super strong, even against much bigger opposition.”
The accolades toasting Hollie is as long as the list of boxing greats above. Let’s start with her adoring fans who have wrestled her in sessions.
“I had a session with Hot Stuff Hollie and the first thing I have to say is she is without a doubt the most gorgeous session girl out there. As far as the session went, she has so much energy and there was no question that she enjoyed the session as much as I did.
She is only about 5’1 but if she gets you in some sort of rear choke or scissors or fig 4 or any other finishing move, you are completely done. She is literally lightning quick and has the physical strength of someone 5’11.
It’s almost unreal. Our one hour session probably went and hour and 20 minutes and neither of us knew it because we were having so much fun. ”
Here is what another satisfied gent had to say.
“What a total package!! Perfect 10!! Built like a fitness model, cuter than any girl next door and just a sweet personality that immediately disarms you. Then Hollie uses her athletic ability to physically disarm you with her fast athletic moves and muscular strength. What an athletic powerhouse!! Will see again ASAP!!”
What is one word that sums up her wrestling scouting report?
Impressive.
I reviewed her match against sexy Scarlett Devine who remarked how strong Hollie’s legs were. Cheyenne Jewel flexed her muscles and engaged Hollie in plenty of bear hugs and tests of strength. Aja was strained by her in a brutal ground war. The way she locked necks with super star Ariel made you sore just watching that titanic struggle.
Hollie is great at grasping and not letting go. She’s extremely effective in the ground wars and loves to catch you off guard by jumping your bones and squeezing your ribs hard.
Her signature match for me was against the widely respected journey level fighter Wenona. As San Jose star Olivia D’Angelo once said, if you allow an opening, “Wenona is right on it.”
When the match began and the two beautiful women stood apart, ready to engage, at first glance due to Wenona’s great height advantage and extensive years of wrestling experience, it looked like a mismatch. As the battle raged on, clearly it was Hollie who gained the advantage.
Hollie is well traveled but at the time of this writing, calls Atlanta her home.
The Jewel of The South welcomes you.
Atlanta’s Mayor, Mr. Kasim Reed expresses, “Exciting things are happening in our city – right before our eyes. The past year heralded in with the opening of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the College Football Hall of Fame. Add to that, Ponce City Market in Midtown Atlanta that will soon open its doors to new businesses and residents who are choosing to make this great city their home.”
Ponce City Market
Atlanta is the capital of and the most populous city state of Georgia, with an estimated 2013 population of 447,841.
Atlanta is the cultural and economic center of the Atlanta metropolitan area, home to 5,522,942 people and the ninth largest metropolitan area in the United States. Atlanta is also the county seat of Fulton County.
Atlanta was established in 1837 at the intersection of two railroad lines, and the city rose from the ashes of the Civil War to become a national center of commerce.
Atlanta is considered an “alpha-” or “world city”, ranking 45th among world cities and eighth in the nation with a gross domestic product of $270 billion. Atlanta’s economy is considered diverse, with dominant sectors including logistics, professional and business services, media operations, and information technology. Topographically, Atlanta is marked by rolling hills and dense tree coverage.
Hollie certainly chose a great city to thrive in.
It’s fitting that we acknowledge Hollie during March, Women’s History Month.
FCI has always respected competitors willing to take risks and cross over into other sports. We have focused on the lady pros and freestyle wrestlers who take the submission wrestling world by storm.
Hollie seems to have the charisma and talent to be a first at many things. This is the first time that we have had a chance to meet a serious submission wrestler and former world boxing champion up close.
Mr. Ashley Montagu, a British-American anthropologist summarized it well when he was quoted as saying, “The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us.”
Due to her size, many have been surprised and seized by Hollie on the mats and you know what?
Whether its submission wrestling or professional boxing; that’s what legends are made of.
