July 3, 2023,
Keep looking within.
The answers are always within.
Important words to go by when you are going through a major life transition, coming to terms with your past, are under great stress or your important relationship is under great strain.
To survive? It’s about you.
The journey inside of your mind is often best traveled alone. A therapist has a place but you also have a space where no one else can go. Where you need to be alone. The vehicle that can get you there?
Meditation.
Meditation is a practice in which an individual uses a technique, such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity, to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.
Meditation may significantly reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and pain, and enhance peace, perception, self-concept, and well-being.
Research is ongoing to better understand the effects of meditation on health (psychological, neurological, and cardiovascular) and other areas.
Very well said.
The team at psychologytoday.com educate, “Meditation is to the mind what aerobic exercise is to the body. Like exercise, there are many good ways to do it, and you can find the one that suits you best.”
Good point. There are many forms of meditation out there. Various disciplines from around the world.
So how do you meditate?
We turn to the team at mindful.org who share, “How do you learn to meditate? In mindfulness meditation, we’re learning how to pay attention to the breath as it goes in and out, and notice when the mind wanders from this task. This practice of returning to the breath builds the muscles of attention and mindfulness.”
We get the point. Hopefully you do as well.
Time to quietly walk over to the book store.

We can appreciate that. We appreciate Zen.
If you are looking to try meditation for the first time, we loved sharing the above suggestions.
What we realized is that there is a structure and science to it. Meditation is more than closing your eyes and letting your mind go blank.
What we like most is, when applied effectively, it can do wonders for your mind, body and spirit.
In today’s chaotic world, that is a welcome benefit.
