Loving, fantasizing about and wishing upon the memories of old school DWW wrestlers is so easy to do.
Old school and super young Maryna was one of my ultimate fantasy DWW girls who could wrestle, box and participate in ultimate fighting.
To look at her you would never know it. To pass her walking down a Vienna street, you might guess model, starlet, college student but never Black Sea Amazon fighter.
Her looks are soft, feminine, sexy, sweet-faced with flowing long dark hair. She’s the girl you want to take to the prom and out to dinner on a star filled night on the Danube.
Her name means Wished For Child.
As I imagined holding her in my arms, slow dancing, an old school song by the 1980’s super silky soul group Rose Royce came to mind.
Rose Royce is an American soul and R&B group. They are best known for several hit singles during the 1970s including “Car Wash,” “I Wanna Get Next to You,” “I’m Going Down“, “Wishing on a Star“, and “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore“.
In my best Barry White voice imitation, here goes:
I’m wishin’ on a star
To follow where you are
I’m wishin’ on a dream
To follow what it means
I’m wishin’ on a star
To follow where you are
I’m wishin’ on a dream
To follow what it means
And I wish on all the rainbows that I see
I wish on all the people who really dream
And I’m wishin’ on tomorrow, praying it’ll come
And I’m wishin’ on all the lovin’ we’ve ever done
Her fans certainly fell in love with her combat skills, tenacity and courage. Here are a few reviews.
“Stunning beauty Maryna’s long dark hair falls down to her waist, but however securely tied makes an inviting target for the ever-vicious Jana, who after their first catfight on DWW-312 let it be known that she really wanted another go at Maryna.”
I would review her fight against blonde Valentina and it was one crunch after another. During the break Maryna went to her corner to gather herself and received encouragement from her DWW friends.
She also took on other tough visitors as well.
“Slender, gorgeous, sporty Maryna takes on cute, Zambia. Zambia’s attitude seems to be that boxing is just another all-out street fight without rules. Like an escaped tigress, Zambia is wild beyond control. It had to be stopped. It’s short, but very sweet.”
Now that took courage on Maryna’s part. What is a soft faced beauty voluntarily doing in a wild street fight like this?
Maybe due to the fan adoration.
“If you have ever seen BSA extreme fights and liked them, you’ll be most impressed by the Summer 2003 fights. Never ever before were the girls so determined to win and so prepared. The aggressive and ambitious BSA newcomers are also stunning beauties. You loved Ira P. in 2002, now lovely Maryna and Nastassja are sure to hypnotize you into an instant worshipper just by standing proud for the introductions. But what fighters they are! Nothing is held back.”
The DWW Princesses like Maryna wrestled in the Danube region. Perhaps we can travel there but still go old school by visiting what is called the Old Danube.
In a disco outfit, wien.info has agreed to take us Old Danube dancing.
“In Vienna, the Danube is omnipresent – whether in the form of the Donau-Auen National Park or Old Danube, Danube Island or Danube Canal. This also means that the river banks and beaches are close by. The Viennese use them to relax, for play and sports, or for pleasurable hours at the beach cafes, bars and restaurants that can be found on the Old Danube and the Copa Cagrana on the Danube Island.
Old Danube
Surrounded by gardens, lawns, restaurants with terraces on the water, promenades with pedestrian and bicycle paths, the Old Danube draws swimmers, sailors, rowers, and surfers. You can choose between three sailing and surfing schools, nine boat rental agencies and four beach facilities. Tip: Rent a row boat, paddle boat or electric boat and experience a romantic boat picnic by moonlight. Maybe you would also like to spend an afternoon at the Gänsehäufel beach facility where two kilometers of beaches, a wave pool and athletic pool, playgrounds, cafés and a nudist area promise enjoyable hours of leisure.”
Thank you.
In bell bottoms, wien.gv.at expands upon our adventure. “About a million people visit the eight-kilometer-long natural beauty spot and highly popular recreation area every year in search of leisure and relaxation.
A total of around 500 sailing boats, pedaloes and rowing boats are available for use by visitors. Some 40 restaurants, cafés and bars and a busy program of events add to the lake’s attractiveness as a recreation area.
The outstanding quality of the water is regularly tested and verified to ensure unclouded enjoyment for swimmers.
A total of twelve bathing jetties on the Old Danube are available for sunbathing and swimming – including a newly designed bathing area on the Lower Old Danube promenade at the end of Große-Bucht-Straße that opened in 2012.
Comprising a gently sloping pebble beach, a shallow zone for paddling and a brand new bathing jetty, the spot is ideal for families with young children, while diving platforms along the large U-shaped jetty make the facility equally attractive for older children and teens. The extensive decked platforms and seating areas are perfect for sunbathing and relaxing.
The Kagran lakeshore was also given a new look in 2012, with a bathing jetty and adjacent grassy areas and terraces for recreational users. Sports lovers are also well catered for, with a link to the cycle way network and a finish area and spectator stand for rowing races.”
We’re a little tired but not done. They agree to continue sharing some important ecological information. “Numerous fish species populate the waters of the Old Danube. Besides well-known types such as zander, pike and wels catfish, the urban lake is also home to lesser-known fish including rudd, bleak and bream. Large numbers of animals also live in the area above the waterline, including some protected species: various types of amphibians, waterfowl and songbirds, dragonflies and the strictly protected beaver.
Endangered plant species have also been successfully reintroduced, with yellow flag iris, water lilies and flowering rushes a prominent sight around the lakeshore. With some 45 different species, the biodiversity of the lakeshore reed beds is gratifyingly high.”
Wonderful.
With strobe lights flickering, alte-donau.info sums it best. “The blend of thrill and fun, pleasure and sport, romance and music woo visitors to Vienna’s leisure paradise from April to December – a successful mixture loved by all generations.
The Beautiful Old Danube…
…where everyday life becomes holiday.”
How true.
Wait. I hear a song in the distance as I sit with Maryna and the moonlight is softly cascading around her beautiful Eastern Euro face. It’s coming in more clearly:
Don’t know why
I’m survivin’ ev’ry lonely day
When there’s got to be no chance for me
My life would end
And it doesn’t matter how I cry
My tears, so far, are a waste of time
If I turn away
Am I strong enough to see it through
Go crazy is what I will do
If I can’t have you
I don’t want nobody baby
If I can’t have you, uh-huh, oh
If I can’t have you
I don’t want nobody baby
Watching and immensely desiring Maryna, I so often wondered what a beautiful, feminine, sweet girl like her was doing in a shapely battlefield like DWW. Sometimes her thin body took so much punishment.
The answer is inside of Maryna’s sensuous head but I think I speak for many when I say, whatever the real reason, we are new and old school glad that she decided to do it.
