November 3, 2021,
Strange as it may sound, sometimes the best time to create and design the life that you desire is after the old one you once had, unceremoniously burned to the ground.
Doesn’t have to be that way. It can come at other times as well.
After a major move.
After a divorce.
After accepting a new job.
After making a decision to re-invent yourself, even if things are going well.
The last example would be nice but people tend to be motivated to change their circumstances after a deep sense of failure or loss.
So let’s say that you are at that point in your life where you are ready for major changes. Just like hiring a contractor to put in a pool, a hairstylist for a makeover or a financial planner to help chart your future, you break things down categorically and strategize that way.
What is the first priority, money or health?
So often that depends upon your age.
At any age, we need to maintain good health. Let’s start there.
This is not a complicated starting place. Do you work out at the gym? That is health 101. There are so many great gym membership offerings out there, there is no excuse not to have a great workout program that you consistently adhere to.
They even have Personal Trainers that will work with you and guide you through your program. At our gym, we actually see them at work. They wear certain colored T-Shirts and in a friendly way work with their clients directly.
For additional guidance, there are many online Personal Trainers and some of them really stand out.
We love the look and approach of Jen Esquer. She has a vibrant, informative and dynamic approach we think that you will like. Let’s meet her.
At her home, docjenfit.com her team introduces, “Jen Esquer is a top-40 physical therapy influencer. With a Doctorate in physical therapy, she is ranked as one of the Best Fitness Trainers on IG by Shape Magazine and has been featured in Self Magazine, Men’s Fitness, Muscle and Fitness as well as well as a select interview guest on CBS and on the RISE podcast with Mogul CEO Rachel Hollis.”
That is an extremely impressive resume. We would love to break down and analyze the components of her approach.
They continue, “As a self-proclaimed “mover”, Jen has spent more than 2/3 of her life upside down. She graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology, and received her DPT degree from Loma Linda University. After schooling, she went on to accept a job at VERT Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation in Santa Monica.
Through VERT and furthering her education, she was able to meet some amazing individuals who further fueled the expansion of her knowledge base. She studied the Myodetox methodology directly under co-founder, Vinh Pham, took a RockTape course with The Movement Maestro herself, and learned from so many other brilliant minds in the rehab game.”
Intriguing. What is the Myodetox methodology?
We researched it. We looked. We liked. We share.
At their home myodetox.com they educate, “We provide hands-on myofascial treatment and corrective exercise. Our approach is backed by research as the most effective way to reduce pain, improve the way you move, and prevent future injuries.
In the same way you clean your teeth and maintain your car, your body requires regular tune-ups. We add wear and tear to our muscles and joints every day, which can lead to pain or injury. Routine body maintenance ensures you’re always able to feel your best.
Your first one-on-one session begins with a Full-Body Assessment that examines your posture and how you move. The Assessment helps us identify the root cause of any discomfort and helps guide your treatment to ensure we relieve tension.”
Makes perfect sense. As we walk through their website, there does appear to be a logical mindset to their pathway.
They have virtual services as well.
You can still recreate your health and fitness routine through the written word.

Stay Fit for Life: More than 60 Exercises to Restore Your Strength and Future-Proof Your Body Paperback – Illustrated, November 14, 2017
by Joshua Kozak
“Future-proof your body and restore strength and mobility to everyday movements–all from home. You won’t believe how much these simple exercises will transform your life and give you confidence. All you need is your body, and maybe a chair and some very light weights.
They say 50 is the new 40, and you can make that a reality with streamlined functional training that is designed specifically for seniors and baby boomers! Stay Fit for Life empowers you to move with more ease and efficiency when performing functional movements.
Bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching–exercies targeting these movements make everyday activities such as running, gardening, or playing with grandchildren both easier and more enjoyable. Unlike traditional resistance training that targets isolated muscle groups, the compound movement exercises in Stay Fit for Life engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously, helping people of all fitness levels lead more active, dynamic lives.
Here’s what you’ll find in Stay Fit for Life:
– Over 60 step-by-step exercises to increase strength, improve mobility, and enhance flexibility, all demonstrated with bright, clear photography
– Modifications for every exercise to make it easier or more challenging, including chair and low-impact variations
– Three four-week fitness programs designed to match every fitness level
– Twenty prescriptive workout routines designed to target specific needs such as lower back strength, posture improvement, aerobic fitness, balance and stability, and more”
Sounds like a good read.
Future proof. We love the new expressions. What will they think of next? Does make sense though.
If we could future proof our body to help protect us from major illnesses, why not?
Is it time to recreate your life?
Discussions regarding finances, a healthy diet, socialization and work are separate pathways that should be included in your overall plan, researched and discussed in depth separately.
In our view, very little else works well if you are not healthy or in pain.
Our suggestion is to recreate your new lifestyle with a focus to health.
It should give you the strength, stamina and clearness of mind to successfully focus on the others.
