November 21, 2021,
During Thanksgiving season, it is the drink to beat all drinks and the beverage that stands tall and bright red above the rest.
Has great standing the rest of the year too.
Cranberry Juice is a wonderful staple in any person’s diet, especially if you consume a brand that is lower in sugar.
The benefits of cranberries are legend.
The team at medicalnewstoday.com educates, “Many people consider cranberries to be a superfood due to their high nutrient and antioxidant content. In fact, research has linked the nutrients in cranberries to a lower risk of urinary tract infection (UTI), the prevention of certain types of cancer, improved immune function, and decreased blood pressure.”
We can certainly give thanks for that.
The health and well-being experts at webmd.com add, “Cranberries may help with gut health. Studies have shown that they can improve gut bacteria in people who eat an animal-based diet. In other words, if you eat a lot of meat, dairy, and sugar, cranberries can help put good bacteria back into your digestive system. They also reduce bile acids in the gut that have a link to colon and gastrointestinal cancers.”
Wonderful to know. It tastes good to you and is great for you.
We certainly don’t want to limit our love for cranberries during the holiday season to just drinking it.
Cranberry sauce with turkey and dressing is incredibly delicious. It has been a tradition in our families since our early days back in Bryan College Station, Texas. Still perfect to add to a Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family.
Cranberry sauce or cranberry jam is a sauce or relish made out of cranberries, commonly served as a condiment or a side dish with Thanksgiving dinner in North America and Christmas dinner in the United Kingdom and Canada. There are differences in flavor depending on the geography of where the sauce is made: in Europe it is generally slightly sour-tasting, while in North America it is typically more heavily sweetened.
Would you like to know how to make it?
The recipe for cranberry sauce appears in the 1796 edition of The Art of Cookery by Amelia Simmons, the first known cookbook authored by an American.
As you guess, there have been many authors since. This book is found on Amazon.
