July 6, 2023,
Hopefully her childhood, on film, doesn’t remind you of your childhood.
Unless you have a hitman for a body guard.
You can never be too safe.
Dakota Fanning did.
On film.
It was a role seen around the world. That is to be expected when your co-star is a mega A-List actor in the legendary Denzel Washington.
Time for some intensity.
Man on Fire is a 2004 action thriller film directed by Tony Scott from a screenplay by Brian Helgeland, and based on the 1980 novel of the same name by A. J. Quinnell.
Get this.
The novel had previously been adapted into a feature film in 1987.
Talk about sitting on the shelf for long time.
In this current film, Denzel Washington portrays John Creasy, a despondent, alcoholic former CIA SAD/SOG officer (and U.S. Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance captain) turned bodyguard, who goes on a revenge rampage after his charge, nine-year-old Lupita “Pita” Ramos (Dakota Fanning), is abducted in Mexico City.
The exceptional supporting cast includes Christopher Walken, Radha Mitchell, Giancarlo Giannini, Marc Anthony, Rachel Ticotin and Mickey Rourke.
Time for more of the story.
Former CIA SAD/SOG officer John W. Creasy visits his old friend Paul Rayburn in Mexico.
Rayburn convinces him to take a bodyguard position with Samuel Ramos, a Mexico City automaker whose young daughter Lupita “Pita” requires a bodyguard for her kidnapping insurance policy to take effect.
Struggling with alcoholism, burnout, and guilt over his actions with the CIA, Creasy tries to commit suicide but his gun misfires. Calling Rayburn in the middle of the night following this attempt, Creasy is reminded by his friend of their saying “a bullet always tells the truth” and begins to consider that he was not meant to die.
What an experience.
Imagine that.
What will he do with that analysis?
Seemingly revitalized, Creasy commits to his newfound purpose as Pita’s protector, reducing his drinking and finding comfort in the pages of his Bible. Creasy begins coaching Pita to become a more confident swimmer, bonding with her through the process.
That was the mellow side of the story.
What he has to do to protect Pita often was brutal.
Dakota was outstanding as a child in peril who pulled on the heart strings of both her body guard and the movie going audience.
This got her career off to a very special start. Far more was to come.
Drum roll please.
Dakota rose to prominence at the age of seven for her performance as Lucy Dawson in the drama film I Am Sam (2001), for which she received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination at the age of eight, making her the youngest nominee in SAG history.
She played major roles as a child actress in the films Uptown Girls (2003), The Cat in the Hat (2003), War of the Worlds (2005) with another mega A-List star in Tom Cruise, Dreamer (2005), Hide and Seek (2005) with the legendary Robert De Niro, and Charlotte’s Web (2006), and the eponymous character in Coraline (2009).
Now, how’s that for a quality A-List resume?
Then she started to grow up and the characters she played, did as well.
Ms. Fanning followed with more mature roles, playing Lewellen in Hounddog (2007), Lily in The Secret Life of Bees (2008), Cherie Currie in The Runaways (2010) and Jane in The Twilight Saga (2009–2012).
Throughout the 2010s, she continued appearing in independent productions such as the dramas Now Is Good (2012) and Night Moves (2013), the comedy-drama Very Good Girls (2013), and the biographical film Effie Gray (2014).
In 2018, she appeared in the heist comedy Ocean’s 8 and had a starring role in the period drama series The Alienist. She has since portrayed Manson girl Squeaky Fromme in the Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) and First Daughter Susan Ford in the Showtime biographical drama series The First Lady (2022).
Stellar A-List resume.
Just as her fans worldwide have taken notice, people outside of the industry have as well.
One of them is the beauty products company, Clé de Peau Beauté.
Here is their amazing story (cledepeaubeaute.com), “Founded in Japan in 1982, Clé de Peau Beauté (“The Key to Skin’s Beauty”) was created to push the boundaries of skin cell science, maximizing skin’s natural radiance.
Through this intensive research, Clé de Peau Beauté’s scientists uncovered an insight, Skin Intelligence, that inspired their philosophy and approach: Like the mind, human skin is “smart,” discerning between positive (nutrients, sleep, moisture) and negative (pollution, stress, dryness) stimuli to maintain its optimal condition.
Since this discovery, the scientists in Clé de Peau Beauté’s laboratories have focused on developing innovative products that amplify Skin Intelligence: finding new ingredients and crafting luxurious formulations to unlock your skin’s ultimate radiance.”
Sounds wonderful.
They certainly have found the right Brand Ambassador in Dakota.
The informative source smagazineofficial.com announced, “Tapping into female strength and the elemental qualities of beauty, Clé de Peau Beauté has launched a new campaign featuring acting stalwarts Dakota Fanning, Diana Silvers, and Ella Balinska for a journey towards #InfiniteRadiance.”
Sounds perfect.
A match made in skincare heaven.
Another respected industry source, Women’s Wear Daily (wwd.com) adds, “To ring in its 40th anniversary, Clé de Peau Beauté has revealed its new faces for its brand, one of whom is none other than Dakota Fanning.
Fanning has been a household name in Hollywood for more than two decades, starring in movies such as “Uptown Girls,” “War of the Worlds,” “The Twilight Saga” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
Dakota continues to impress.
From her early childhood film success to starring in captivating mature rolls, our luminary continues to garner the world’s attention.
And looks so great while she does it.
If you apply her advertised skincare line, it could make you look fabulous too. How much so?
You just might need a body guard.
