Olivia Campbell, Beautiful Shapely Model, Inspires Our Belief

The ravages of growing old often focus on physical issues such as gaining weight, the hardening of the arteries, graying of the hair, diminishing strength, eyesight and more.

What’s often overlooked is perhaps, if you are not careful, one of the most tragic aspects of aging with devastating consequences.

The loss of faith, optimism and the emergence of the cynicism that age and experience can create.

Nowhere was this portrayed more spiritually, beautifully and sadly in the 1960 Twilight Zone episode, The Big Tall Wish.

A spiritually broken, washed-up boxer is given a magical chance to win an important fight, thanks to the “big, tall wish” of a little boy who idolizes him.

The producer, Rod Serling’s sensitive script and innovative direction developed a moving story that lasts less than 30 minutes, but whose lesson learned is timeless.

The challenge that many shapely models face, especially when they are in their teens is that they are too tall, fat and unattractive.

When Femcompetitor Magazine came across the image of Olivia Campbell, she took our breath away. Even though she was once ridiculed for her looks, she was persistent in not believing the negative things expressed.

In an interview with the guardian.com Olivia spoke about this issue among others.

Speaking for herself she shared, “The first time I was approached by a modeling scout I thought I was being pranked. I had just left school at 15, after being bullied badly for my appearance. I was so tall – I’m now 5ft 11in, and I did most of my growing early – I was overweight, my hair was big and fluffy. My confidence was so low that I took the scout’s card but never even called him.

For so many years I had been told I was ugly, and I believed it. Whenever someone took a camera out I would make sure I was nowhere near it – any pictures taken of me I burned or ripped up.”

A few years later she was approached again and even then she didn’t have the belief in her beauty to pursue it. What was different this time around was the scout involved asked her if she would consider becoming a plus size model, she was a little confused about what he meant.

Previously she thought all models were thin and tall.

Mostly they were but clearly things are changing. Often it’s the global population itself. As much as there is a movement of fit women to sculpt the new Alpha Fem look with six pack stomachs and firm muscles, there is another legion that are heavier than in times past.

Olivia made a decision to attend therapy.

It changed her life. She began to embrace who she was both inside and out and the most important voice to listen to was her own.

She now describes herself. “I’m a 5ft 11 size 18 confident and vivacious plus size model based in London England. I’m extremely passionate about what I do and I put 120% into everything I do. Clearly she is now a believer.

Olivia has been slaying the runway and blowing us away with her beautiful and inspiring photos for years, so it is no surprise to anyone that she is now represented.”

An event that is gaining in popularity and is greeted with joy by shapely models like Olivia is Full Fashion Week which produces events in various cities around the world including Los Angeles, Atlanta and Toronto.

What is full fashion week exactly?

At their Facebook they explain “Full Fashion Week is the “Oscars” of the plus industry. Since 2009, we continue to successfully connect brands with consumers & curvy tastemakers. We do it BIG!”

So Olivia loves shopping for shoes and London has plenty of places to satisfy her need. One that stood out was a unique shoe shop based upon a novel.

The informative that offers you to take a break, timeout.com shares, “Built around 1567, this building can justifiably lay claim to being the oldest shop premises in central London – though whether it actually inspired the Charles Dickens novel of the same name is anyone’s guess (though Dickens lived in nearby Bloomsbury and was known to have visited the shop).

Not only does Olivia believe in herself, she’s wise enough to believe in having fun too.

What is Olivia’s advice to those who are considering becoming a plus sized model?

In her interesting interview with plus-model-mag.com she smiles, “Work, work, work! The plus-size industry is just as cut-throat as the straight-size model industry. If you don’t put in 100% on every job that you do, they will just get someone to replace you. And always be polite and on time.”
