Cleo Lima Fernandez, Shapely Model, Accepts Being Gorgeous

Gloria Gaynor defined the Disco era as one of the most memorable artists to make people shake their rump to the funk. She is best known for her smash hits, “I Will Survive”, “Never Can Say Goodbye”, “Let Me Know” and “I Am What I Am”.

Regarding a subject close to a model’s heart, she was once quoted as saying, “Well, we all know that self-esteem comes from what you think of you, not what other people think of you.”

Never one to disagree with one of my favorite artists of all time but my experience is that what I think of myself is so often based upon what I perceive other people seem to think about me.

Does that make sense?

As Femcompetitor Magazine explores the world of the shapely model, many of whom are now redefining the industry, one thing our research unearths is their constant recollection of being bullied as teens about their weight. According to them, it has often led to low self-esteem which often leads to eating disorders.

We love the way the gorgeous Brazilian model Cleo Lima Fernandez looks. She sexy, curvy, fresh faced and exotic.

Regarding self-esteem what does her youthful story speak to?

I think you can guess.

Cleo relates in an interview that friends and relatives constantly chided her that she has such a pretty face that if she lost some weight that she could be a model. Their words hit hard. She started taking laxatives to lose weight.

Yuck.

The story goes downhill from there including having our Latin beauty purposely get sick up to 15 times a day. We won’t go on but I think you get the picture.

What forced her to change was when at age 18 she developed a stomach ulcer and a major decision had to be made to change her life.

Given how gorgeous she is, we are extremely happy that she did.

Other influential people are glad that she did as well.

She was crowned Miss Brazil Plus Size 2012 and has gone on to become an international plus model. Cleo has worked for several well-known brands and was named to the 2013 “Hottest Bodies In the Plus Size Modeling Industry” list by Plus Model Magazine.

What often amazes about researching Brazil is that she possesses one monstrous metropolis after another. Save Japan and China, very few countries rival the massive and exciting cities of Brazil, with many like Goiania that most unfamiliar with Brazil have never heard of.

While the city is extremely modern and contemporary, it has been nicknamed the ‘Spring Capital’ with a third consisting of parks and greenery, such as Buritis, Vaca Brava and the Zoo.”

What an exceptional village that helped influence and raise Cleo.

Now, about this self-esteem issue.

Ms. Gaynor is a fantastic, timeless singer who provided her insights. Let’s get another point of view that seems to be consistent with Gloria’s from a star model.

Kathy Ireland is an American model and actress, turned author and entrepreneur. Ms. Ireland was a supermodel in the 1980s and 1990s, best known for appearing in 13 consecutive Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues.

Regarding self-esteem she was quoted as admonishing, “If we get our self-esteem from superficial places, from our popularity, appearance, business success, financial situation, health, any of these, we will be disappointed, because no one can guarantee that we’ll have them tomorrow.”

I get the point that both Gloria and Kathy are getting at but I think for most of us it’s hard to apply.

Cleo once stated that after she started modeling, her point of view about her body began to change. Cleo says. “I was leaving behind that desire of having a skinny body, and began to have my own opinion on beauty, putting aside the social standards. I defend happiness independent of the scale and believe that beauty goes far beyond your dress size!”
