When things are going well in your personal life, for years, there may be a tendency to expect that they will only get better.
Hopefully they do because so much of that is within your control and is based upon your decision making and outlook on life.
Real life makes for very powerful learning lessons.
We love sharing real life events with you in the hope that, if it applies, you may learn something from the experience without experiencing the pain and apply it to your personal life and experience the benefits and the joy.
Please meet Mia.
Mia is a college graduate and though she had a few important relationships in her life, now in her early thirties, she has never married.
She receives the usual well-meaning but often extremely annoying gestures from friends and family trying to introduce her to eligible bachelors but for whatever reasons, it just didnt work out in the long-term. She hasnt met Mr. Right and increasingly has become more comfortable with Mr. Right Now and forming friendships with men without becoming romantically involved with them.
In terms of her lifestyle, Mia is not alone.
On January 16, 2018, as reported at Observer.com, a group who describes themselves as offering a sophisticated readership of metropolitan professionals an original take on the latest in news, culture, politics and luxury, To previous generations, Americas single population might be seen as outrageous. In 1960, 72 percent of adults were married. Among todays growing single population, 63 percent have never been married, 23 percent are divorced, and 13 percent are widowed. Of that staggering single population, the majority of which are living independently of their own accord, 53 percent of singles are women.
There is supporting data.
On March 9, 2018 CNN adds, In 2017, the Census Bureau reported that a record number of adults in the U.S. were not married. More than 110 million residents were divorced or widowed or had always been single; that’s more than 45 percent of all Americans aged 18 or older. The median age of first marriage rose to 29.5 for men; for women, it reached 27.4.
Apparently American society is in the midst of a fundamental social and demographic shift.
It appears that many women, and Mia is one of them, instead of waiting for Prince Charming to come along as many of todays young womens mothers and grandmothers did to save and protect them, Mia has made a decision to forge her own way.
She was fortunate that her father made the decision to raise Mia, not to live the lifestyle that he wanted for her but instead to have the life that she wanted for herself thus not only getting a college education was imperative, he insisted that she also earned a Masters degree.
Men in various societies around the world clearly do not take that view.
Her parents never pressured her to get married and figured it was better to prepare her to take care of herself.
Her family lived a very high people contact lifestyle with strong ties in their community in terms of religion, business and social groups and began to observe that many of the people who were married were not happily so.
Though they have no statistics to support it, they also felt less and less that young males are committed to the idea of getting married and raising a family but instead prefer to date or live with a young woman to test things out first.
In terms of making a sustained good living, less and less seemed to qualify for that as well.
Mia was not into that theory at all.
What she especially didnt want was to take care of a male and be the primary bread winner.
The good news for women like Mia is that once a person has accepted that they will most likely be single for life, they begin to prepare for and design a healthier lifestyle that suits it.
Exercising which includes walking, running, working out at the gym goes without saying. Eating healthier, even if it means eating out more vegan style, is important as well and having a nice income allows for Mia to eat out more often.
Shes not really into online dating but instead has built her life around her career which is the most important pathway in her life. As a result, even though she is fully aware that it is fiction, she loves watching television and movies that portray strong female leads.
One of her favorites is Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, who now is the star of Law and Order, Special Victims Unit.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, often abbreviated to Law & Order: SVU is an American police procedural, legal, crime drama television series set in New York City, where it is also primarily produced.
Created by Dick Wolf, the series premiered on NBC on September 20, 1999, as the second series in Wolf’s successful Law & Order franchise.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has been nominated for and won numerous awards, including the 2006 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Mariska Hargitay, the first, and to date only, Emmy to be received by a regular on any Law & Order series.
It is the since the cancellation of the original Law & Order on May 24, 2010.
The series has been on for so long, it was as though she watched Olivia evolve and grow into a leader and single mom who decided to adopt with relative to sometimes great success.
Mia also loves the wealth of movies and television series that depict groups of single women who have become friends and are supportive of one another and enjoy each others company.
The catty depictions mostly are not based upon reality.
Her circle of good friends demonstrate that.
In terms of travel Mia is appreciative that more and more of the companies in the travel industry are becoming more female friendly.
She has also taken strong steps financially by buying her own house on a 15 year loan and putting at least 20 percent of her income every month into an IRA.
We are more sensitive to the lifestyle of the single woman because Femcompetitor Magazines roots are in the female submission wrestling and Session Girl industry where the vast majority of these beautiful girls are single and enjoy a lifestyle where they are constantly traveling the world and actually seem very happy.
Thus the more things change in many ways the more they dont stay the same for good reason.
We sense the point that we are trying to make here is if you are a woman who is single the encouragement is to be comfortable with it and continue to try and enhance it.
Mia is happy that being single is no longer a stigma and becoming more of a norm and while not perfect, at least for women like her, far more preferable.
