Effective snacking tends to be a comprise of two factors. Quantity and timing.
Not too much before dinner or before going to bed.
A little snacking is perfect before exercise or as an appetizer before dinner.
Snacking helps keep you from getting overly hungry in between meals and then overeating at your next meal.
Combining a carbohydrate-rich food like whole grains, fruits or vegetables with protein foods like nuts or dairy products makes for the most filling snacks.
That is the key. Eating healthy snacks.
We searched high and low and due to their abundance in kindness we found a snack company whose approach is really sweet.
Kind LLC, sometimes referred to as KIND Snacks or KIND Healthy Snacks, is a healthy foods company based in New York City, New York. It was founded in 2004 by Daniel Lubetzky. The company manufactures seven product lines made from whole ingredients.
All KIND snacks are gluten-free, made from whole ingredients and low in sodium. Currently, their KIND Healthy Grains and KIND Healthy Grains Clusters are certified by the NON-GMO Project.
Since they are so kind in their approach, let’s visit their home kindsnacks.com where they warmly invite us inside for some treats and explain a little bit about themselves. They have strong affirmative beliefs.
“We believe if you can’t pronounce an ingredient, it shouldn’t go into your body. Actually, it shouldn’t even go into your pantry. KIND® products are made from nutritionally-dense ingredients like whole nuts, fruits and whole grains – no secret ingredients and no artificial flavors, preservatives or sweeteners.
We believe that people don’t need to choose between health and taste when it comes to snacking. We use premium, better-for-you ingredients that are kind to your body without sacrificing quality or flavor.
We believe in inspiring and celebrating kindness. By improving the way we live, eat and relate to one another, we hope to foster communities that are healthier, more empathetic and embrace our shared humanity.”
These strong beliefs are consistent with their mission.
We would love to hear more.
Let’s start with the owner.
“Daniel Lubetzky is on a mission to build bridges between people. He is the founder & CEO of KIND, a not-only-for-profit that makes delicious and nutritious snack foods. Drawing on his experiences in the food industry, Daniel recently founded an independent organization called Feed the Truth, which seeks to improve public health by making truth and transparency the foremost values in today’s food system. A pioneering social entrepreneur, Daniel also founded or co-founded PeaceWorks Inc., Maiyet, and the OneVoice Movement. In 2015, President Barack Obama and Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker named him a Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship. He is the author of the bestseller Do the KIND Thing.”
Very impressive. Let’s see how his mission partners with the overall mission of the company.
“We believe that kindness can change the world. That’s why we’re on a mission to make the world a little kinder and have been since we were founded in 2004. We call this the KIND Movement.
We’d love for you to join us on this journey. As a first step, consider the difference between “nice” and “kind.” It’s a subtle difference, but it has changed how we see things here at KIND.
Nice means well, but it’s not enough. Kind is different. Nice is polite, but it stays out of it. Kind is honest – it speaks up and rises to the occasion. Nice doesn’t add to problems, but Kind rolls up its sleeves and solves them. Nice doesn’t bully, but Kind stands up to bullies. Nice is something you say, whereas Kind is something you do. If we had to sum it up, we’d say this: Nice is passive, but Kind is active.
Now, more than ever, it’s time to act with kindness. When we do, we all have the power to make a difference.”
Wow, we completely agree. What a wonderful mission and purpose that certainly help make the world a better place.
Let’s see what others are saying about this tasty snack.
At amazon.com, here are two.
- These were really yummy and quite satisfying. I have been working hard to improve my eating habits and have lost a lot of weight in the past year. These are a nice treat to get a little “sweet,” but the grain seems to keep me full longer than other stuff. Only 150 precious calories for a snack that stays with me…I can live with that.
- Prefer KIND bars (nuts with sea salt and dark chocolate are my favorite). For the amount of fiber in these, sugar seems a bit high though they aren’t overly sweet. Wanted to give these a try but think I’ll stick with the bars. However aren’t too bad so will eat the ones I bought. Looking at them, would think fiber would be higher. I’d been buying fiber one bars but looked at ingredients and will never buy again…too many ingredients that I prefer not to eat. With Kind brand, this is never an issue.
Okay, we know that mostly all of us will continue to snack. Now, we are happy that Kind Snacks are on our radar. Please click on the image below.
Let’s turn our attention to a visiting female speaker who focuses in on the snack bar fillings without getting filled up.
Real Fruit Bar Fillings – Improving the Health of Snack Bars
By Amy Wright
Nutritional snack bars are a popular consumer product – meeting the growing need for on-the-go healthy snacks. For manufacturers, improved dietary components such as no added sugars and high fruit and fiber content are increasing the appeal and variety of snack bars in the market place. However formulators face difficulties with hard to source fruits, and with fruit formats that impose constraints. Typically, the requirement for high quality fruit filling ingredients can’t be matched with bake stability and low water activity and manufacturers have had to resort to imitation and / or artificial products.
Fortunately today, the URC range of pieces and pastes provide cereal bar manufacturers with a versatile and robust way to add real fruit to their products in a great range of fruit and flavor blends. The unique formulation and design can provide a full portion of fruit per serving, as well as meeting the needs of manufacturing functionality of bake stability and low water activity.
Bake stable fruit bar fillings have increased integrity under heat and won’t boil out of the end of the bar during baking therefore preventing burning or caramelizing issues. Water activity levels of under 0.65 ensure minimal moisture transfer occurs to prevent spoilage and extends shelf stability. URC fruit bar filling pastes are a convenient option when superior fruit flavors and fruit content claims are critical.
Fruit bar fillings are manufactured via a proprietary Ultra Rapid Concentration process which reduces raw fruit materials to less than 10% moisture in under 60 seconds. This means the fruit ingredients experience minimal residence time and the rapid cooling process preserves that fruit flavor, color and goodness of fruit – naturally. Unlike freezer, barrel or sun-dried fruits, the texture remains soft and delicious – without the use of artificial additives or preservatives. Easy to use and available in pump able drums Ultra Rapid Concentration is creating a new way to include real fruit bar fillings in snack and baked bars.
URC fruit bar fillings can be used as a soft fruity center in a baked bar, as a sheeting paste to create a visible fruit layer, or as blending paste in formed bars to reduce added sugar content and provide cleaner ingredient listings.
Taura Natural Ingredients are the creators of URC functional processed fruit ingredients for the global market. Taura provides manufacturing solutions along with innovative natural food ingredients that are on-trend and driving new category growth in the healthy snacking sector.
Utilizing the proprietary Ultra Rapid Concentration (URC) technology Taura manufactures a comprehensive range of fruit based, low water activity pieces, flakes and pastes for nutritional snacks, baked goods, cereals, chocolate and confectionery.
With over 30 years international experience, Taura Natural Ingredients is a fully integrated global company with dedicated URC production facilities in both hemispheres – Belgium and New Zealand.
These facilities are complemented by dedicated customer support offices in the United Kingdom, Australia and USA, including a selling partner network across the globe to ensure the highest level of service and continuity of supply worldwide.
