A highly fine-tuned precision game, there are many elements that can prevent a tennis match from being played.
Rain, sleet and snow can immediately shut down any tennis match.
Injuries can too.
Especially those kind of the lower back.
But when it comes to Caroline Garcia of France while rain, sleet or snow can shut down her match, apparently lower back pain will not.
At least not always.
As announced on December 31, 2017 at the .dailymail.co.uk, “Caroline Garcia suffered a worrying start to the new season when she was forced to withdraw from her opening match at the Brisbane International with lower back pain.”
With the 2018 Australian Open major tournament right around the corner, that was very unfortunate.
Would Caroline miss one of the most important Grand Slam Tournaments of the year?
We fans sure hope not.
As we fast forward to January 16, 2018, not only is Caroline playing at the Australian Open, she is playing extremely well.
The informative sports, news and information site www.sport24.co.za shared “Tenacious eighth-seed Caroline Garcia overcame first round wobbles to fight her way into the Australian Open second round on Tuesday, showing no signs of her problem back.
The Frenchwoman, who had a breakout year in 2017, winning two titles and qualifying for the WTA Finals, ground past Germany’s Carina Witthoeft 7-5, 6-3.”
Very resilient.
As of this January 20, 2018 writing, Caroline is headed for a fourth round Australian Open showdown with the American super star and 2017 US Open finalist Madison Keys.
Extremely impressive.
That says everything about Caroline.
Well, almost. Actually there is so much more to say. So many more accolades to savor.
We absolutely want to read and share more about this French beauty.
Caroline Garcia has won five singles and six doubles titles on the WTA tour, one singles and one doubles title on the WTA 125K series, and as one singles and four doubles titles on the ITF Women’s Circuit in her career.
On 23 October 2017, she reached her best WTA singles ranking of world No. 8, and on 24 October 2016 she peaked at No. 2 in the WTA doubles rankings, tied with fellow Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic.
Playing for France at the Fed Cup, Ms. Garcia has a win-loss record of 8–4 in singles and 5–1 in doubles. She was awarded a Heart Award for her sportsmanship, and led her country to the 2016 Fed Cup final, France’s first final since 2005.
Recently the good news continued.
On October 17, 2017 at tennis.com they praised, “The 24 year old who reached the WTA Finals in Singapore by winning Beijing and Wuhan in back-to-back weeks, has taken a while to reach the upper ranks of the game. But now, the 24-year-old believes in herself and has improved a lot over the past five months. She is now in the Top 10, and she’s also on an 11-match winning streak.”
Hers is a career on the rise.
In terms of her playing style, Caroline is an offensive baseliner, with consistent and powerful groundstrokes, and a strong service game.
It’s been said that her forehand is her stronger side and she can hit many clean winners off it.
She possesses a consistent and strong two-handed backhand. She also has a strong first and second serve, known for its accuracy.
Wait to you hear the next stat.
She served the ninth most aces in 2016, with 218. With all of the big hitters on the women’s tour, that accomplishment is incredible.
Over her career she has made more than seven million dollars. Bravo.
Given her creative tastes, she certainly has made more than enough francs to spend on her proclivities.
She loves her mother’s tiramisu and millefeuille.
Do you know what they are?
Shall we have a taste?
The mille-feuille vanilla slice or custard slice, also known as the Napoleon, is a French pastry whose exact origin is unknown. Its modern form was influenced by improvements made by Marie-Antoine Carême.
Traditionally, a mille-feuille is made up of three layers of puff pastry (pâte feuilletée), alternating with two layers of pastry cream (crème pâtissière), but sometimes whipped cream or jam are substituted, when substituted with jam this is then called a Bavarian slice.
The enticing site bonappetit.com adds, “Millefeuille, the classic French pastry that consists of layers of razor-thin puff pastry and cream filling, is having a resurgence all across the country.
Translated to English, millefeuille (pronounced meel-foy) means one thousand sheets, layers, or leaves. It’s an old-school French pastry that’s airy, crispy, flaky, and decadent in all the right places.”
Yummy.
Can’t you imagine yourself sitting at a table on the side walk patio of a quiet French café, watching gorgeous women walk by on a sunny day, sipping a hot cup off fancy French coffee while gently nibbling at a slice of mille-feuille?
Of course you can.
We love Caroline’s tennis style. We love Caroline’s fashion sense. We absolutely savor her culinary acumen.
So we desire to partake in her other favorite dessert.
Tiramisu, meaning “pick me up”, “cheer me up” or “lift me up” is a popular coffee-flavored Italian dessert.
It is made of ladyfingers dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese, flavored with cocoa.
The recipe has been adapted into many varieties of cakes and other desserts. Its origins are often disputed among Italian regions of Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Piedmont, and others.
Tiramisu is rich in history and wonderful taste. With a pudding-like filling of mascarpone, a rich cream cheese that originated in the Lombardy region of Italy, this delicacy is irresistible.
We love the French pastry experience.
We also love the “watching Caroline Garcia compete” experience as well. Very much.
Like others, Caroline has had many ups and downs during her career, creating doubters.
In terms of her future on the tour, in Caroline’s interview with tennis.com she expressed, “I know my parents still believing in me anyway. I had some people in my team, we are very close since long time and a lot of years,” Garcia said. “That is the more important for me. Some people I don’t know doesn’t believe in me, I don’t care anymore.”
Way to go Caroline.
Way to believe in yourself.
We fans near and far believe in you too.
