Super heroes usually wear costumes right?
Batman has a cool dark one. Superman has blue tights laced with red. The Green Lantern wears, well, green.
Is it a guy thing? Not necessarily.
Which brings me to Jessica Jones.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones, or simply Jessica Jones, is an American web television series created for Netflix by Melissa Rosenberg, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.
The series is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios and Tall Girls Productions, with Rosenberg serving as showrunner.
Krysten Ritter stars as Jessica Jones, a former superhero who opens her own detective agency.
All episodes of the first season premiered on November 20, 2015. They were released to critical acclaim, with critics noting Ritter’s performance as well as the series’ noir tone, approach to sexuality, and depiction of darker topics such as rape, assault and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
In January 2016, Netflix renewed Jessica Jones for a second season.
So Jessica is not a typical Super Hero so to speak but she can still leap tall buildings, break dead bolt locks with ease and have lots of animal sex at a moment’s notice.
Jessica Jones Jacket and Jeans.
There are the O’Jays and Jessica’s Two Jays.
I like this chick a lot.
She really puts the J in Jessica.
She’s gorgeous, framed in beautiful jet black hair, complimented with sexy pouty lips and sweet coal dark doe eyes.
It’s the uniform thing that gets me.
Well, actually puzzles me. Why?
She doesn’t have one.
She wears a waist length black leather jacket right out of the rockin’ 80’s and light colored beat up blue jeans.
Her JJs (Jacket-Jeans).
ALL….THE…..TIME.
Everywhere. Anytime. All the time.
I mean at least Bruce Wayne wore his expensive designer business suits during the day time.
Clark Kent wore less expensive polyester suits at the newspaper office.
But Jessica wears her jacket and jeans to coffee, liquor binges, girl on girl arguments, bar fights, potential train murders, cheating spouse photo shoots, lunch, dinner, meetings and bad guy butt kicking’s.
Every hero needs a villain and here Jessica has to contend with a British guy who can control people’s minds, including Jessica’s and make them murder other people or commit suicide.
Among other dastardly things.
I’m gonna control your mind Ol’ Chap.
So when a little girl accosts Jessica on the streets and asks, “Are you Jessica Jones?” We know that she is under the influence of the British Guy after she begins to curse Jessie out. Every profanity in the book.
Now look, an eight year old girl cursing out a woman wearing a leather jacket, I get that.
Makes complete sense. Right?
The last time you wore your leather jacket weren’t you cursed out by a four year old?
Once when I was sitting inside of a mall, drinking my caramel latte and wearing my waist length black leather jacket and light colored blue jeans (at my age heaven forbid), a 6 year old approached me with a cup of water in hand and…….dashed it all in my face.
Then cursed me out in a British accent.
Me? I knew that was going to happen, given what I was wearing, but still the little rascal caught me off guard and I screamed “YEAH!!!! That’s what I’m talkin’ about!”
Then like Crank Yankers Special Ed, I stood up on a Mall Planter and screamed at the top of my lungs, “Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!”
So in Jessica’s episode I thought the little bird would do something a little more Jessica specific.
What I was really waiting for her to say (in a high pitch child’s voice with a British accent)…. “Jessica Jones! How come you wear a black leather jacket and light colored blue jeans…
ALL THE TIME!!!!!!?”
Okay?
So it was really strange that the eight year old didn’t even ask that.
That is the true mystery in the Jessica Jones saga.
It’s not the crazy British Guy. It’s her JJs.
So the beautiful sultry actress that plays Jessica so masterfully is Krysten Ritter.
In real life when we researched all of her pictures we didn’t see a leather jacket or beat up light colored blue jeans anywhere in sight.
JJ free zone.
Thank heavens.
She’s the kind of super sexy chick that you say to yourself, “self”, I know I’ve seen this chick before, but where?
Krysten Alyce Ritter is an American actress, musician and former model.
Krysten is known for her roles as Jane Margolis on the AMC drama series Breaking Bad, Chloe in the ABC comedy series Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, and Jessica Jones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She has appeared in films such as What Happens in Vegas (2008), 27 Dresses (2008), Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009), She’s Out of My League (2010), Veronica Mars (2014), and Big Eyes (2014). She has also appeared in roles in the television series Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, Gravity, ‘Til Death, and Veronica Mars.
Okay, so that is a lot of places that I have probably have seen her before.
With her role in Jessica Jones though, I’m certain none of us who have watched the series will ever forget her.
She is so elegant sexy.
The great review site rottentomatoes.com gave the series a 93-95% like. That is high praise indeed.
She has become my heroine.
Our heroine.
She was born in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Kathi Taylor and Gary Ritter.
She was raised on a farm outside Shickshinny, Pennsylvania, where her mother, stepfather and sister live; her father lives in nearby Benton. Our heroine graduated in 2000 from Northwest Area High School.
She was once quoted as expressing, “On the farm, I had chores. I had a calf. We had a herd of cattle in the pasture. We’d go and get me a calf at a cow auction with Amish people, which I would raise. I gave it a bottle every day, in this cute little coop, like a giant dog coop almost. I’ve always been a big animal person.”
Hmm, we bet she was wearing blue jeans when she did that.
Oh, my hero.
We are so glad that Jessica’s series was renewed and look forward to watching it again. She is a Super Heroine we can get behind and watch her behind in tight blue jeans.
Talk about a wonderful escape. A guilty pleasure that we don’t feel one bit guilty about.
You know how some fans attend movie theaters or watch their favorite shows with a group of friends and play dress up. We did that in the 1980’s with Miami Vice. A massive audience did it with The Rocky Horror Picture Show and recently with Mad Men too.
So if you truly want to enjoy the Jessica Jones experience, invite a group of friends over where it requires that all of you wear a waist length black leather jacket and light colored tight blue jeans.
Deal?
The only caution we will give?
Make sure there are no little kids around with cups of water. They won’t be able to help themselves.
