A prediction is like a nose.
How you ask?
Well, you probably expect us to say that everyone has one.
That’s not what we’re going to say.
A prediction is like a nose in the sense that they can smell.
And sometimes they stink.
So often, it’s not wise to be in the prediction business, even when you are experts, have played the game at the highest level and even know what you are talking about.
You still can get it completely wrong. Just ask a few NFL analysts.
During the pre-season who would have predicted that the Dallas Cowboys would be the number one seed in the NFC at the end of the 2016 campaign?
Hmm, possibly Analyst Skip Bayless but he is a Cowboy fan who worships at the blue and silver altar of tin gallon and star, so you can’t really go by him.
We say all of this because like the legion of tennis fans around the world, as of this early January 2017 writing, we are super excited about the upcoming Australian Open and the Fem Competitors who will battle there.
In terms of our tennis props, we have them.
In times past we were very serious amateur tennis players here in Nor Cal back in the day.
Later a USTA Official.
Then when it was time to evolve into a coach, we worked with a high school female tennis player who as a high school sophomore and junior compiled tepid won lost records of 4-10 and 3-11 respectively.
No disrespect. No respect either.
So she asked us to coach her and after working with her in the hot sun for 9 months, during her senior campaign at one point see was 13-0 and all victories were won two sets to none.
Seriously.
There’s more.
She would eventually lead her high school to the playoffs for the first time in school history, make it to the Final Four of the league championships and was named team MVP.
Who was her high school title fight against?
The daughter of a prominent gentleman who was running for the Governor of the Great State of California.
Talk about a high school memory.
So we say that to reassure you that we know a little bit about women’s tennis.
Not as much as female grappling though so when it comes to making predictions about Women’s Tennis at the 2017 Aussie Open, we’re going to leave that to the experts at ESPN.
Some of them have really beautiful noses.
Here is what they had to say. “Neither Angelique Kerber nor Serena Williams will win.
Kerber is in a unique position. She proved through 2016 that she can handle the pressure that goes with becoming the top player by finishing No. 1 for the year. The pressure is off — so off that Kerber, who’s always blown hot and cold, may be hard-pressed to find her motivation.
Williams is 35 and just one Grand Slam away from breaking a tie with Steffi Graf to become the Open era’s most prolific major singles titlist. She’s been having a great time since last September, expanding her social life, hobnobbing with celebrities, posting open letters on Facebook. What she has not done is hit a tennis ball under competitive conditions since she lost in the semifinals of the US Open.”
That prediction is from Mr. Peter Bodo.
Peter Bodo is an Austrian born American sportswriter and author, currently Senior Editor/Blogger at Tennis Magazine. He is also an occasional columnist for the “Outdoor” section of the New York Times and for the Atlantic Salmon Journal. He won the WTA Tour Award for “Best Writer of the Year” twice, in 1979 and 1981.
He claims that his writing style is based on the idea that absolute objectivity is impossible.
So far, so good. We certainly agree with his objectivity philosophy.
So what do you say gang?
Does his prediction smell sweet or otherwise?
As of this writing, here are the current rankings.

Sounds like fun.
Its entertaining fun and fun for a great cause.

There is so much to love about the Australian Open.
Unfortunately for us, our dream girl Madison Keys will not participate this year due to wrist surgery.
Oh darn.
Luv seeing her fly around the courts in those sexy short skirts and she is one talented gorgeous girl.
Big babe tennis at its finest. The best Big Babe tennis since Mary Pierce.
You see, we we’re going to predict Madison to break through and win in a shocker.
We’re we going to be right? It sure smelled sweet.
Well. We’ll never know, now will we?
We guess we’ll have to leave that to ESPN.
Once the Aussie Open is done, hopefully their prediction doesn’t………
