Girl groups in the 1960s rocked our world and soothed our souls.
The favorite feminine vocal partnerships seemed to comprise teams of three with the Supremes being the epitome of the Dream Team.
The Supremes were an American female singing group and the premier act of Motown Records during the 1960s. Founded as the Primettes in Detroit, Michigan, in 1959, the Supremes were the most commercially successful of Motown’s acts and are, to date, America’s most successful vocal group with 12 number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
The founding trio were Diana Ross, Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson.
In today’s highly competitive and extremely lucrative perfume industry there is a dream team of Mega Stars who are ambassadors for Lancome.
Lancome is a French luxury perfumes and cosmetics house that distributes products internationally. Lancôme is part of the L’Oreal Luxury Products division, which is its parent company and offers skin care, fragrances, and makeup at higher-end prices.
Lancome’s dream team of ambassadors consists of established Mega Stars Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway and a powerful emerging one in Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame.
The popular fashion site stylecaster.com reports, “The Harry Potter actress has signed a deal with the cosmetics firm to appear in range of campaigns for them–with the first one being shot by legendary photographer Mario Testino–and says she can’t wait to get to work.
The young fashionista–who has appeared in several campaigns for Burberry–recently launched a fair-trade clothing collection for People Tree and said it’s something she wants to do more of.”
Another dynamic group fragrantica.com adds, “The latest fragrance by the house of Lancome, Tresor Midnight Rose is announced as a seductive edition, successor to the last year’s edition Tresor In Love in a purple flacon.
A new dose of Parisian romance provides a fragrant story beginning with passionate accords of raspberry and rich rose nuance.”
The stunningly beautiful and talented Emma Stone is a perfect fit.
Emma rose to prominence after landing her first professional acting role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, appearing in all eight Harry Potter films from 2001 to 2011, previously having acted only in school plays. The opportunity earned Emma worldwide fame, critical accolades, and more than $10 million dollars.
Now that is a wonderful fragrance packaged in an aesthetically pleasing green bottle.
Ms. Watson was born in Paris, France, to English parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers.
Widely respected for her humanitarian work, Emma has promoted education for girls, visiting Bangladesh and Zambia to do so.
In July 2014, she was appointed as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador.
In September of that year, Emma delivered an address at United Nations Headquarters in New York City to launch the UN Women campaign HeForShe, which calls for men to advocate for gender equality.
Blessed with natural beauty, a warm spirit and exceptional acting talent, wouldn’t you agree that Emma is a perfect ambassador for Lancome?
So female athletes, let’s say that you love Emma as much as we do and Lancome is the perfume for you but even within their fragrance lines, in terms of picking the right perfume for you there are some questions that you might want to ask.
We have a visiting female speaker who will share some insights on choosing the right perfume for your lifestyle. Please enjoy.
Choosing The Right Perfume For You
By Patti Zimmerman
Perfumes will contain several layers of scents creating a unique bouquet. These layers are described as their ‘notes’. These notes become more apparent over time and what you smell when you first selected it may change when you get it home.
Top notes: Consist of small, light molecules that evaporate quickly upon application. These form the initial impression and often are the selling points to a selection. Top notes may be described as fresh or clean smelling with the extreme being strong in odor and volatile. Although that is the first impression they usually evaporate quickly.
Middle notes: This emerges prior to when the top notes evaporate. It is the main body and emerges in the middle of the perfume’s distribution process. The purpose of middle notes is to mask the generally unpleasant initial impression of base notes which over time become more pleasant. Usually more mellow and rounded, these scents may emerge after two minutes to an hour after applying.
Base notes: This materializes close to the departure of the middle notes. The main theme of a perfume is the middle and base notes. While base notes bring depth and solidity, the compounds are usually bonds used to capture and promote the strength of the much lighter top and middle notes. The large heavy molecules evaporate slowly and are usually rich, deep bouquets that emerge 30 minutes after applying. Some base notes can still be evident twenty-five hours after application.
Consider the following things when selecting the right scent:
- Think about the smells you enjoy most, listing out those that bring back memories or that are meaning full to you. If you are normally attracted to the outdoors then a perfume with a flowery or woody note would be appropriate.
- Your personality is another factor to keep in mind. If you are the type of person that loves getting dressed up then choose a one that lingers. If you are the more casual, care-free person then select one that is fresh and clean. Another alternative are those that have a combination of scents that can bring out your personality. Choosing the right fragrance that represents who you are is best.
- Test before you buy. No one likes getting a perfume home only to find out that it doesn’t smell the same as in the store. Inquiry about samples that can be tried out for a few days before committing yourself to a potential disastrous purchase.
- Get opinions from friends and family. Ask if the fragrance is too strong, does it linger too long or do they like it. Ideally we want to select a one that we enjoy wearing and the people around us find it pleasing.
Upon understanding the base notes of a perfume and what scents you are attracted to, you also need to keep in mind that fragrances change when applied to the skin. So although it smells wonderful in the bottle does not mean it will on your skin. Apply a sample to your skin and allow it to sit for a few minutes. This will determine if the perfume brings out the overtones of the essence you want.
