Visions of being adorned in an elegant bridal gown, a future bride always looks forward to the day that, before well-wishers, family and friends that she is the star and princess of the story.
In times past that fantasy was reserved for slender women or those willing to slim down to meet the manufacturer’s specifications.
There’s good news emanating from a Sydney Princess.
A shapely model is helping to re-shape the bridal wear industry and all the dreams of shapely women everywhere who can dream about their Snow White day while they look into their magical mirrors.
A moving film that on the surface may appear whimsical but is far deeper than the emotions that flow on screen is the 2008 drama, Rachel Getting Married, directed by Jonathan Demme, and starring Anne Hathaway, Rosemarie DeWitt, Bill Irwin and Debra Winger.
Ms. Hathaway received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance in the film.
The wedding day should be about the bride, true? Anne’s character was not named Rachel.
Reviewing the film the New York Times remarks, “The problem in “Rachel Getting Married” — not the problem with the film, mind you — is that even though Rachel is the one getting married, it’s all about Kym, her younger sister. Kym, played by a decidedly un-princessy Anne Hathaway, is furloughed from rehab for the happy event, arriving at her father’s rambling Connecticut clapboard house on a toxic cloud of snark, cigarette smoke and wounded narcissism.”
Ladies? If you are hoping to marry soon and you have beautiful curves, you should view the bridal collection endorsed by the gorgeous shapely model from Sydney, Australia named Mercy Watson.
“I’d imagine my wedding as a fairy tale… huge, beautiful and white.”… Paris Hilton
The global news and entertainment source huffingtonpost.ca announces, “The pressure to slim down is one that many brides face before their weddings. U.S.-based retailer David’s Bridal has taken a step to relieve that pressure by casting stunning model Mercy Watson in its campaign for spring 2016. Watson is a size 14, which is the average customer size for David’s Bridal, Glamour reported.”
Mercy has more than 7,800 followers on Instagram where she shares photos from past campaigns. She has previously worked for UK brand Evans Lingerie and Australia’s Crossroads – and editorials.
While it lasts, here is a nice compilation of Mercy Watson moments. Yummy.

The global news source the dailymail.co.uk is excited about how things are shaping up as well. “Mercy Watson is proud to call herself a plus size model.
The size 14 beauty, who is an advocate for positive body image, is empowered by the term and said women should not feel pressured to look a certain way.
The 25-year-old recently shot a spring campaign with US company David’s Bridal, and told Daily Mail Australia she would like to see more brands use plus size models.”
The cry continues around the world. Show us Mercy!
The informative site today.com obliges. “Magazine ads would have us believe that all brides are a size 0, but that isn’t the reality. And perhaps rather than using the wedding countdown as a deadline to “slim down” for the aisle, it’s about time brides were given an opportunity to show how incredibly gorgeous they truly are — as they already are.
Bridalwear giant David’s Bridal turned to model Mercy Watson, who happens to be a size 14, for a photo shoot in London that celebrates the brand’s UK expansion. Seeing how her Instagram is a mix of gorgeous, curvy fashion shots and quotes encouraging women to love their bodies, she seems to be a natural fit for this opportunity.”
A wedding chapel door has opened and provided us with the opportunity to travel to Mercy’s village that helped form her.
Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales and the most populous city in Australia and Oceania. Located on Australia’s east coast, the metropolis surrounds the world’s largest natural harbor, and sprawls towards the Blue Mountains to the west.
Sydney has an advanced market economy with strengths in finance, manufacturing and tourism. Its gross regional product was $337 billion in 2013, the largest in Australia.
Sydney is also a gateway to Australia for many international visitors. Its natural features include Sydney Harbor, the Royal National Park, Bondi Beach, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Man-made attractions such as the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbor Bridge are also well known to international visitors.
The masters of travel, Lonely Planet are always exceptional at adding color. “Brash is the word that inevitably gets bandied around when it comes to describing the Harbor City, and let’s face it, Sydney is one hot mess! Compared to its Australian sister cities, Sydney is loud, uncompromising and in-your-face.
Fireworks displays are more dazzling here, heels are higher, bodies more buffed, contact sports more brutal, starlets shinier, drag queens glitzier and chefs more adventurous. Australia’s best musos, foodies, actors, stockbrokers, models, writers and architects flock to the city to make their mark, and the effect is dazzling: a hyper-energetic, ambitious marketplace of the soul, where anything goes and everything usually does.”
Mercy Watson certainly has made her mark in the bridal fashion world.
She shares an important thought at the previously mentioned today.com, “I’m so proud to be part of an ad campaign that helps all women celebrate such an exciting milestone in our lives and its really been an honor to work with a brand that sees the beauty in women of all shapes and sizes!” Watson told TODAY. “I’m overwhelmed by the positive response to the images and hope they help all brides feel confident and excited as they search for that gown of their dreams.”
Mercy Watson? It’s a job well done. You focused the attention where it should be.
Beautiful curvaceous women around the world can look to Mercy and be inspired to dream because when it comes to their wedding day……..
It’s all about them.
