Real or imagined, the Greek Goddesses had a major impact on the lives of those in the ancient world.
Source after source indicates that they were never real, including the tale of the Trojan horse.
It’s just that. A tale.
As reported at the global news source bbc.com, “The story of the Trojan Horse is first mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey, an epic song committed to writing around 750BC, describing the aftermath of a war at Troy that purportedly took place around 500 years earlier.
After besieging Troy (modern-day Hisarlik in Turkey) for 10 years without success, the Greek army encamped outside the city walls made as if to sail home, leaving behind them a giant wooden horse as an offering to the goddess Athena.
The Trojans triumphantly dragged the horse within Troy, and when night fell the Greek warriors concealed inside it climbed out and destroyed the city. Archaeological evidence shows that Troy was indeed burned down; but the wooden horse is an imaginative fable, perhaps inspired by the way ancient siege-engines were clothed with damp horse-hides to stop them being set alight by fire-arrows.”
Sound information for certain from a respected source and yet……….
After looking at the delicious, mouth-watering curvy model Lexi Placourakis………
I’m inclined to believe that Greek Goddesses actually do indeed exist.
Maybe not in the ancient world but certainly in the modern one.
She’s living proof.
And she’s so alive in every way imaginable.
She says so herself at her Facebook. “Plus Size Model, Single Mommy, Student ….living out every moment! Just something to keep everyone updated with my work and journey of trying to spread the confident and curvy movement!! Own it.”
Our shapely princess with flowing hair is certainly living out every moment as life should be lived.
As far as being viewed as a real Goddess, please don’t just take our word for it. Look at what the global news giant huffingtonpost.com had to say about her. “Lexi Placourakis may be the closest thing we have to a Greek Goddess walking among us today! She has a smile that could melt an iceberg, and a killer figure that she routinely shows off both in her social media presence and in her work as a face on the #TRUEcurves board at TRUE Model Management. By putting her beauty out there, Lexi is helping to bring confidence to women everywhere and showing those that bullied her and put her down in high school what resilience looks like.”
Now that we agree on her high station as a goddess, it’s time to listen to the high praises as they begin to flow in the sea breeze.
The informative site thecornishgirl.com shares, “Lexi has modelled for Skorch Magazine, Hips and Curves and Curve Appeal amongst others, and is a real inspiration to women who don’t fall under the “Skinny” category.”
When asked about what advice she would give girls regarding their image and pursuing a modeling career, Lexi replied, “Go for it! Don’t let societies standards make you feel like you couldn’t reach your goals. Take advantage of social media, send your book to companies and agency’s get yourself out there you’d be surprised how many of my clients are from the marketing of myself, and If YOU are happy with yourself and you feel good, sexy and healthy OWN IT! Who cares what people think?!”
While some curvy models describe their experience with the term plus size as negative or isolating, Lexi has relished having her size celebrated and gets frequent compliments on how she looks, even though she overcame bullying and low self-esteem in high school.
As with any super star model, Lexi has a strong Social Media following. She happy about that. Who wouldn’t be? Lexi is different in that she takes it a step further and encouraged her followers to submit photos of themselves that they felt reflected their most confident self, which she treated as a sort of casting call for a photo shoot she then organized, called Shooting for Confidence.
Very creative and community oriented.
Lexi received over 400 entries from women of all shapes and sizes, located all over the world. Some of the beautiful females who participated submitted photos publicly, and some women submitted them privately.
Where does Lexi inherit her gorgeous genes from? Her mother is a former model, Miss Hawaii USA. Lexi used to love looking at mom’s pictures growing up.
Hawaii is a memorable place to grow up.
Let’s travel to Lexi’s village of Kailua, Hawaii.
Kailua is a census-designated place (CDP) in Honolulu County, Hawaii.
It lies in the Koʻolaupoko District of the island of Oʻahu on the windward coast at Kailua Bay. It is 12 miles north east of Honolulu – over Nu‘uanu Pali. The population was 38,635 at the 2010 census.
In the Hawaiian language Kailua means “two seas” or “two currents”, a contraction of the words kai (meaning “sea” or “sea water”) and ʻelua (meaning “two”); it is so named because of the two lagoons in the district or the two currents which run through Kailua Bay.
Kailua is primarily a residential community with places of note in which include Kailua Beach Park, Lanikai Beach, Kawai Nui Marsh, Maunawili Falls, and Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
President Barack Obama has taken winter vacations in 2008 & 2009 in Kailua and in the rented, ocean-front house Plantation Estate in the Paradise Point Estates in 2010, 2011 & 2012. The house was built by developer Harold Kainalu Long Castle, who also lived there.
Mr. Obama also took a vacation break in August 2008 at a different Kailua house, Oahu Lani, during the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign.
You see what we mean about Lexi? She’s from a land where kings and presidents spend extensive time. Very celestial.
The fun travel site lonelyplanet.com loves Kailua as well. “A long, graceful bay protected by a coral reef is Kailua’s claim to fame. The nearly 4-mile-long shoreline stretch of ivory sand is made for strolling, and the weather and wave conditions can be just about perfect for swimming, kayaking, windsurfing and kitesurfing. None of this has gone unnoticed. Decades ago expatriates from the mainland bought up cottages crowded into the little neighborly lanes; the ones near the beachfront were often replaced with mega houses. South along the shore lies the exclusive enclave of Lanikai, with million-dollar views – and mansions that may be valued at 10 times that much.”
Hmm. Even houses fit for a Goddess.
As of this writing, Lexi is a wonderful mom with a son, partnered with Dallas Cowboy lineman Tyron Smith.
The great insightful group with the inside scoop, playerwives.com had this to say about our sensuous Greek Princess, apparently beautiful on the inside as well. “Tyron Smith’s girlfriend Lexi Placourakis is one of the good ones. Often we’ve been contacted by wives and girlfriends yelling at us for inaccurate information. And things get even more heated when there’s a kid involved. Fortunately for us, our dealings with Lexi Placourakis were quite friendly and reflected nothing more than a mother with only one concern: that being her child.”
Are we not impressed? Yes we are.
The stunning ancient Greek Goddess that she seems to bear resemblance to is Hebe.
Hebe is the goddess of youth.
She is the daughter of Zeus and Hera. She was the cupbearer for the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus, serving their nectar and ambrosia.
Hebe was supposed to have the power to give eternal youth, and in art is typically seen with her father in the guise of an eagle, often offering a cup to him.
Lexi has provided us with the gift of eternal joy.
She is wonderful to gaze at endlessly. Wouldn’t you agree?
She’s proof that Goddesses actually do exist, not only in the heavens, but here on earth as well.
