What is your life like as a 5 foot, 6 inch female, you’re a junior in high school, and you weigh 235 pounds?
Are you ever beautiful enough in your own eyes?
The way you are treated by the popular girls, the handsome boys and your own friends when they get upset with you can’t help. No matter how strong you are, even the high school sports coaches want ready-made athletes.
So what do you do?
Many think of extremes in behavior.
The curvy model world is filled with stories of eating disorders and young girls who conjure up extreme imagined solutions in a painful and confused state to address an issue that can be handled incrementally.
The star Indie Canadian wrestler Kat Von Heez was 235 pounds in the 11th grade and by all accounts is still 5 foot, 6 inches.
She had her moments of solution confusion but decided to channel that energy into body building and in a way that can be inspiring to all of us, made a great and sensual success of it.
YUMMY
She is very forth coming in sharing her story with the respected Indie site slam.canoe.com.
She had problems with weight, eating as little as possible and training anywhere from four to 10 hours per day, eventually dropping 79 pounds. She was diagnosed with Type 2 Bulimia Nervosa (a non-purging eating disorder characterized by excessive exercise).
The good news is, this is an example of how determined Kat can be when she makes her mind up to achieve great things.
BEAUTIFUL LIPS
She would eventually become an accomplished vocalist and performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Chorus and traveled to perform internationally in Europe.
Our star is also a Jiu Jitsu champion, amateur wrestler and track and field star in the shot put and discus events.
Wouldn’t you say that she responded admirably to her once challenging situation?
She didn’t stop there. She continued to ascend.
To address her eating disorder she saw a doctor who reassured her it was okay to begin to eat again. Not only did Kat begin to eat properly, she began to study nutrition.
That’s when she began to take body building to another level.
LEGS TO DIE FOR
She began weight lifting and body building in earnest. She won her first Novice Junior Woman’s Body Building Championship in 2010, and went on to win the Canadian National Junior Woman’s Body Building Championship in 2010 as well.
We love her body now but as Kayla Prysiazniuk she was gorgeous too.
Don’t you agree? Yummy, yummy.
Here are some of her body building credentials found at canadabodybuilding.com:
2010 CBBF Canadian National Figure, Fitness & Masters Championships – 1st Junior
2010 MABBA Provincial Championships – 1st Junior
2010 MABBA Winnipeg Novice Championship – 1st Junior
MABBA stands for the Manitoba Amateur Bodybuilding Association.
The International Federation of Bodybuilding is the longest standing organization in the world representing and promoting bodybuilders, and now fitness competitors. Ben Weider is one of the founders of the organization, which has a 53-year history. 173 countries are affiliated with the I.F.B.B.
Simply put, Kat competed in the big leagues.
Her trials in life were not over.
She’s been in three different vehicular accidents that had the potential of ending her wrestling career or life. Yet, as Kat always does, she survived.
With an over 300 incredible wrestling matches under her belt, we’re extremely glad she survived, moved on and thrived.
Soon it was time to move on again, this time coming full circle. She was previously an amateur wrestler and now it was time to entertain with the lady pros.
Kat began her pro wrestling career in 2011, training with the Canadian Wrestling Elite Academy.
In December 2013, our beauty won her first championship, the Pure Power Wrestling cruiserweight title.
That’s not surprising. Watching her on video, to say that Kat is a rough and tumble tough customer is an under-statement, broader that Kat’s gorgeous muscular shoulders.
She loves to clothes line, body slam and body smash with the strongest of them, only harder.
Understandably Kat is very popular in Canada.
In September of 2015, the entertaining and informative publication cwecanada.net informed, “The first official woman announced for the historic first ever CWE’s women’s tour is none other than Winnipeg born and raised Kat Von Heez!
No stranger to Canadian Wrestling’s Elite Kat Von Heez began her career with the company and valeted for then CWE Tag Team Champions Team Impact. In an effort to advance her career Von Heez relocated to Edmonton, Alberta where she continued training with Monster Pro Wrestling before fully beginning her official in ring wrestling journey.”
Kat’s relocated to Edmonton, thus once again its time to make a circular trip and travel back to her hometown of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada.
The trip will unearth a surprise. Let’s start above ground.
Winnipeg is the capital and largest city of the province of Manitoba in Canada. It is located near the longitudinal center of North America, at the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers.
The city is named after the nearby Lake Winnipeg; the name comes from the Western Cree words for muddy or brackish water. The region was a trading center for aboriginal peoples long before the arrival of Europeans.
French traders built the first fort on the site in 1738.
Known as the “Gateway to the West”, Winnipeg is a railway and transportation hub with a diversified economy. This multicultural city hosts numerous annual festivals, including the Festival du Voyageur, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Jazz Winnipeg Festival, the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, and Folklorama. Winnipeg was the first Canadian host of the Pan American Games.
It is home to several professional sports franchises, including the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Canadian football), the Winnipeg Jets (ice hockey), Manitoba Moose (ice hockey) and the Winnipeg Goldeyes (baseball).
The colorful travel site Lonely Planet illuminates, “The two prominent stars of Manitoba are Winnipeg, with its big-city sophistication and Churchill, with its profusion of natural wonders. But it’s what lies between that truly defines this often misunderstood province. Open spaces of this prairie province seem to stretch forever – gently rolling fields of grain and sunflowers and wildflowers reach all the way north to Arctic tundra.
The magnitude of this land is only fully appreciated while standing on the edge of a vivid yellow canola field counting three different storms on the horizon, or on the edge of Hudson Bay’s rugged coastline counting polar bears while belugas play in the distance. Wander its empty roads, stop in its evocative little towns, find the subtle dramas in the land and expect surprises, whether it’s a moose mewling in a bog or a future pop legend performing on stage.”
The mayor would like to welcome you.
At the informative city site winnipeg.ca, they smile, “Mayor Brian Bowman, the City’s first Aboriginal Mayor, was elected as the 43rd Mayor of the City of Winnipeg in a landslide victory on October 22nd, 2014.
Brian is passionate about ensuring Winnipeg is a City that works better for every citizen. He is committed to building a stronger Winnipeg, a city that is open, transparent, that has improved infrastructure, safer communities, and a real long-term economic plan for the future.
As a national leader in the emerging fields of social media, access to information, and privacy law, Brian used his role as a partner at one of Winnipeg’s top law firms to protect victims of cyber-bullying and for the protection of individuals personal rights.”
The description “Aboriginal” may bring forth images of the Aborigines of Australia.
You probably already know this, but how is Aborigine defined?
It means of or relating to the people and things that have been in a region from the earliest time.
It’s as simple as that. Therefore, an Aborigine can physically and culturally be very different depending upon what region of the world that they are from.
Let’s briefly meet the Aborigines form Kat’s part of the world.
The educational site aadnc-aandc.gc.ca explains, “The history of Aboriginal peoples in Canada is rich and diverse. This history stretches long into the past before the arrival of the European newcomers with diverse interactions among different peoples, flourishing trade and fierce conflict, and competition for lands and resources. The history of First Nations, Inuit and Métis is essentially the very history of Canada as they have played, and continue to play important roles in its development and its future.”
Aboriginal Canadians, are the indigenous peoples within the boundaries of present-day Canada. They comprise the First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
The descriptors “Indian” and “Eskimo” have somewhat fallen into disuse in Canada and are sometimes considered pejorative or disparaging.
Old Crow Flats and Bluefish Caves are some of the earliest known sites of human habitation in Canada. The Paleo-Indian Clovis, Plano and Pre-Dorset cultures pre-date current indigenous peoples of the Americas.
The characteristics of Canadian Aboriginal culture included permanent settlements, agriculture, civic and ceremonial architecture, complex societal hierarchies and trading networks.
The world respected travel, historical and educational group National Geographic capsulizes their story well. “Aboriginals had the continent to themselves for 50,000 years. Today they make up less than 3 percent of the population, and their traditional lifestyle is disappearing. Almost. In the homelands the ancient ways live on.”
Very enlightening.
As the expression goes, it’s hard to tell where you are going, if you don’t know where you’re from.
Kat Von Heez is from a fascinating part of the world, rich with history. With over 300 matches on her resume, Kat has quite a history herself.
It’s her future that we are very excited about.
Circling back to her interview with slam.canoe.com, Kat encourages, “I want to be an athlete that has a story that is inspirational, so that other people who may feel that it’s not worth fighting for a dream, realize that they can achieve anything.”
Kat?
Mission accomplished.
