February 6, 2020,

Time is something that we all seem to need more of. Right?

Unless you live on an island, are filthy rich, work your accounts online at your leisure and have all of the attractive friends you need nearby.

Unfortunately that does not describe us. Probably not you either.

At least not yet.

Most of us have an extremely busy schedule where we try and include commute hours, work, dining an, working out, night school and family activities on the weekends, possibly religious commitments and more.

Hopefully we get to recreate too.

If only we had more time.

Perhaps a more pertinent question is how do we use the time that we have more efficiently?

There are many articles, books and online interview discussions about time.

We like going to the movies where time can be altered, increased, decreased, re-done and the works. You sure can get more time through Ground Hog Day, though it has significant limitations.

Interstellar is a 2014 epic science fiction film directed, co-written and co-produced by Christopher Nolan.

The blockbuster stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, and Michael Caine.

Set in a dystopian future where humanity is struggling to survive, the film follows a group of astronauts who travel through a wormhole near Saturn in search of a new home for humanity.

The earth needs more time.

Brothers Christopher and Jonathan Nolan wrote the screenplay, which had its origins in a script Jonathan developed in 2007.

The film had a worldwide gross of over $677 million, making it the tenth-highest-grossing film of 2014.

At the 87th Academy Awards, the film won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, and was nominated for Best Original Score, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing and Best Production Design.

Now that is how you create more of and make the best use of time.

We can’t engage in time travel but we can apply something that sounds new age called Time Blocking, which is not quite what it sounds like.

Time Blocking is a format of scheduling that can help you manage your time better. Instead of working by the clock, you can focus on finishing big and small tasks one at a time. This will help you limit distractions, get things done faster, and leave you less overwhelmed by lengthy to-do lists.

Like Mr. Elon Musk.

Elon Reeve Musk is an engineer, business magnate, investor, and philanthropist.

He is a citizen of South Africa, Canada, and the United States.

Sounds very time efficient and effective.

Mr. Musk is the founder, CEO, and chief engineer/designer of SpaceX; co-founder, CEO and product architect of Tesla, Inc.; founder of The Boring Company; co-founder of Neuralink; and co-founder and initial co-chairman of OpenAI.

That sounds like it took a lot of time to accomplish.

In December 2016, he was ranked 21st on the Forbes list of The World’s Most Powerful People, and was ranked joint first on the Forbes list of the Most Innovative Leaders of 2019. He has a net worth of $44.5 billion and is listed by Forbes as the 23rd-richest person in the world.

He is the longest tenured CEO of any automotive manufacturer globally.

In terms of Time Blocking, here is the point.

It has been noted that during his time as chairman of not one, but two global conglomerates (Tesla and SpaceX), the billionaire technology entrepreneur was often lauded as a superhuman, considering he managed to successfully run two companies, exercise twice a week, and find time for his 5 children.

He relied on the Time Blocking strategy to accomplish his personal and business goals.

Time blocking involves four important time management stages: the planning stage, the blocking stage, the acting stage, and the revision stage.

In the Planning Stage, you need to single out your priorities for each day.

Once you’ve decided what you need to block time for, you then determine when you need to block the time and how long do the various time blocks need to be.

In the acting stage, you follow through on the work that you planned according to your scheduling blocks.

Finally in the revision stage, it is as much about today as it is tomorrow. Are you using each block effectively or are you allocating too much time to one and not enough to another? The revision stage can help you figure that out.

Perhaps a female author who wrote a well-received book on time management may help as well.

Holly Reisem Hanna the founder and publisher of The Work at Home Woman.
