Confidence is one of the key factors that lead to success. If you do not believe in yourself, and your abilities and ideas, how are you going to convince others to do so? Most people are unaware of how powerful confidence is in determining the quality of their lives. Those who lack confidence often settle for a mediocre life because they rarely step out of their comfort zone.

Do you ever wish you had more self-confidence? Then boost your confidence by following these 8 proven steps:

  1. Dream Big. Why limit yourself? Take time to reflect on those inner desires and dreams that are buried within you. What is your passion? What do you love? What do you want to accomplish? Discovering your passions will create excitement and inspire you to move forward. Tip: Surround yourself with your dreams both visually and mentally. Cut out pictures or anything else that will remind you daily of your dreams. Close your eyes and feel what it will be like when you accomplish them. This will help you to see beyond your current situation and open your mind to pursue your passions.
  2. Set Goals. Setting goals will put you on the right track to success. It is great to have dreams, but you must be clear and focused on what needs to be done to achieve them. Write down your goals and list the steps needed to fulfill them. This will establish a clear direction, make you feel more confident, and move you from the passenger seat to the driver seat.
  3. Be Persistent. Other people have done it. Why not you? Don’t give up if things don’t fall exactly into place. Be creative. Be flexible. But most of all — don’t give up! It’s going to take discipline and commitment to achieve your dreams. Each step taken toward your goal will boost your confidence. Tip: There will always be some roadblocks on your path to success. Think positive, stay focused, and surround yourself with supportive people. Don’t see roadblocks as defeats, see them as opportunities.
  4. Ask for help. We don’t know everything and we never stop learning. Usually when you ask someone for help, you not only get great advice but someone who will be asking you from time to time how things are going. This is a great motivator! Tip: Remember help is everywhere- on the internet, networking, or people you may know. It is just a matter of seeking it out.
  5. Be Grateful. It is easy to focus on what you don’t have rather than what you do have. As you are achieving your dreams remind yourself of the wonderful things in your life. It will boost your confidence by seeing yourself and your life differently — plus you will be more confident that great things are on the horizon. Tip: Make a “grateful list” and see how this will boost your energy and optimism.
  6. Take Risks. It is easy to stay within your comfort zone. Taking risks leads to new opportunities. Learn to be fearless and stop being afraid to live. Life is meant to be lived to the fullest. Stepping out of your comfort zone is scary but with each step comes more confidence.
  7. Talk Nice to Yourself. Most people are not consciously aware of the negative self-talk that enters their minds every day. Would you be offended or furious if someone talked to you the way you talk to yourself? If you don’t allow it from other people, then don’t allow it from yourself! Take a stand against negative self-talk and see your confidence grow. Tip: When a negative thought enters your mind, challenge it and turn it around to become a positive thought.
  8. Celebrate. Celebrate all the victories. Your path to success takes lots of small steps. Take the time to enjoy each step and goal that you accomplish. You will boost your confidence with each victory.
