If you are in the fashion industry, in many ways, Fashion Week is your Super Bowl.

Fortunately for you, while the Super Bowl only happens once a year, Fashion Week happens several times annually.

So what is Fashion Week exactly?

A fashion week is a fashion industry event, lasting approximately one week, wherein fashion designers, brands or “houses” display their latest collections in runway fashion shows to buyers and the media.

The concept of fashion week began in Paris, when marketers would hire women to wear couture items in public places, from racetracks to salons.

Couture is typically expanded to Haute couture.

Haute couture is the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing.

Haute couture is high-end fashion that is constructed by hand from start to finish, made from high-quality, expensive, often unusual fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished by the most experienced and capable sewers, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques.

Couture translates literally from French as “dressmaking” but may also refer to fashion, sewing, or needlework and is also used as a common abbreviation of haute couture and refers to the same thing in spirit.

A haute couture garment is always made for an individual client, tailored specifically for the wearer’s measurements and body stance. Considering the amount of time, money, and skill allotted to each completed piece, haute couture garments are also described as having no price tag: budget is not relevant.

Mind blowing. What a life.

For the elite.

We can understand how these events influence trends for the current and upcoming seasons.

The most prominent fashion weeks are held in the fashion capitals of the world: New York, London, Milan, and Paris (the “Big Four”) which receive the majority of press coverage.

Okay, the big four are like the Grand Slams in tennis.

We are understanding this intriguing and stylish world a little better.

Still, even if you cannot attend or participate in the big four, other cities like Mumbai, Beirut, Berlin, Dubai, Los Angeles, Madrid, Monaco, Rome, São Paulo, Taipei, Shanghai, New Delhi, Copenhagen, Sibiu, Jakarta, and Tokyo host important fashion weeks.

Very nice to know, especially if you love fashion and have the means to travel.

So let’s say that you make it to one of the Fashion Week events and of course you love every moment of it. The question we have is do you really see any clothes there that you can afford to buy and that you wear in everyday life?

Especially if you spot the gorgeous curvy model Paloma Elsesser adorned in the latest designer threads.

As she smoothly glides down the catwalk, you can’t help but salivate. Even when she posts YouTube videos, she looks great in everyday wear with a sense of humor and a smile.

If a gorgeous shapely woman can wear that particular attire, and look wonderful, which Paloma does, then so can you.

Paloma has certainly inspired a number of young women to feel better through her Instagram.

Paloma Kai Elsesser was born in London, England to artistic parents. She was raised in Los Angeles, California and moved to New York City, New York in 2010, to attend The New School to study psychology and literature.

Her experience in La La Land was very memorable.

She mostly attended private schools. That can certainly give you a different view of the world and while her experience in artistic Southern California was very enlightening and impressionable, Elsesser longed for life in the Big Apple.

Due to her popularity and mesmerizing looks on Instagram, soon Paloma was discovered by the iconic make-up artist Pat McGrath and was asked to model for her beauty line.

Our Instagram Star is living proof that the social media revolutionized and democratized the fashion industry. It is very wise to take advantage of that.

Pat McGrath as a mentor? Bingo! Things are starting to look up.

Pat McGrath is a British make-up artist. She has been called the most influential make-up artist in the world by Vogue magazine and other commentators.

If anyone would know about dedication and having a strong will to keep moving towards your goals, it is Pat McGrath. Before becoming a makeup artist, Ms. McGrath used to work as a receptionist to help support herself, while simultaneously working on her future as a makeup artist.

She not only made it, she made it big.

In the 2013 Queen Elizabeth II’s New Year Honors List, Ms. McGrath was “named an MBE, or Member of the Order of the British Empire, for services to the fashion and beauty industry

You could understand Paloma’s intense excitement. Having a top make-up artist like Ms. McGrath in her corner could open a lot of doors previously closed. The exposure and vital contacts would prove very helpful to Paloma.

Paloma was soon picked up by other big brands, modeling for the likes of Fenty Beauty and Glossier.

Very impressive.

The doors continued to open.

Paloma blossomed and evolved to model for Nike, Inc., Proenza Schouler, and Mercedes-Benz. She has also appeared in editorials for fashion magazines such as American Vogue, Vogue España, Teen Vogue, Elle, W, Wonderland Magazine, and Glamour.

Ever the creative mind our beauty also she starred in Leon Bridges music video for Bad Bad News, wearing a red trench coat and dancing through New York.

So what about the future?

Isn’t it true that all models essentially have an outer imposed shelf life? In the short-lived world of fashion where youth is at a premium, it seems essential to not only financially and spiritually plan for the future, you should have an alternate long-term career plan as well.

Word has it that Paloma would like to finish her education, achieve a Master’s degree and then become a psychologist for adolescents.

Very noble goals. Given her global travel experience meeting people from all walks of life, we’re sure she would make a great influencer and therapist.

She certainly has programmed herself in the right direction.

In terms of fitness, Paloma works out with one of her favorite trainers in Mr. Joe Holder. He’s a prominent Nike trainer and a very good friend.

Part of her strength and wisdom comes from keeping a strong group of women around her that motivates and encourages her to feel good about herself.

We could all use that.

Speaking of strong women, her mother is one of her most important role models and a person she speaks highly of often.

We could all use that too.

Paloma loves New York, for what she describes as the city’s authenticity, a label not often used for Hollywood and the sunny southland, respectfully speaking.

“The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.”… Audrey Hepburn

Authenticity is what shines through in Paloma’s online interviews where she is very forth-coming and down to earth.

Once we became aware of her, Paloma’s physical beauty is easy to notice. She is shapely, sensuous and gorgeous.

After reading her thoughts and philosophy, her inner beauty shines through as well.

That is an attribute that will last much longer than any wonderful lucrative modeling career.
