Arriving first, being innovative, leading the pack and being labeled as a Maverick are complimentary accolades, especially if they are true.

But you know what? Sometimes it’s okay to come in second, third or fourth as long as the trendsetter that you are following has some exciting mojo.

Bokwa has some magic mojo. Plenty of it as a matter of fact and they spell it out for you. Literally.

At their fun and informative site bokwafitness.com they smile, “Bokwa® is a new and completely different approach to group exercise that is rapidly spreading across the globe.

Bokwa® participants draw letters and numbers with their feet while performing an energizing and addictive cardio workout routine. Moving together to today’s most popular music, participants off all ages draw the Bokwa® L, 3, J, K and dozens of other steps.

No Counting Steps

Because Bokwa® steps are structured and based on the forms of letters and numbers, doing Bokwa® does not require you to count steps, like a traditional 8 count followed by most dance fitness programs. Simply feel the music and freely move with the beat. And the dozens of other class participants that are sharing the energy and excitement with you.

No Choreography

Once you know the step, you own it and can do it without following an instructor’s personal choreography. Because the steps follow the same structure, whether you are doing it in Taiwan, Australia, England or the US, Bokwa® is truly universal.

Today’s Popular Radio Hits

We do Bokwa® to popular music that appeals to a global audience. The music is energizing and addictive and it is likely the same feel good songs you listen to in your car.

Everyone Can Do Bokwa®.

Because the steps are structured as letters and numbers everyone can do Bokwa®. 4-year-old kids.75 year old men and women. People with two left feet who cannot dance. World champion Latin and ballroom dancers. All having a terrific experience in the same class!

It Does Not Feel Like Working Out At All.

Because of the energizing music, the fun and predictable steps and great motivation coming from people moving together to music, participants become addicted to Bokwa®. You would not even realize you were burning up to 1,200 calories in one workout.”

Hmm. Sounds as easy as…..well ABC.

Other exciting sources are happy to follow and praise the trending Bokwa.

They can spell too.

At shape.com they rejoice, “While you already know your ABCs (we hope!), that’s not all it takes to make it through this dance class craze based on the alphabet. In Bokwa, you’ll “draw” letters and numbers with your feet while performing a calorie-torching cardio routine. In this nontraditional class, participants can make up their own dance moves by simply moving to the beat of the music. Bokwa’s origins trace the map from an L.A.-based instructor who used elements of South African dance to bring the steps to fans in Europe, where it is already all the rage.”

They are not alone in their admiration.

The respected wellness site healthline.com extols, “When it comes to Bokwa Fitness, these lyrics can be taken quite literally. Bokwa is a cardio dance class that has you drawing letters and numbers with your feet while shimmying to the beat of the music.

The reason for the alphabet-centric choreography? It’s easy for anyone to pick up quickly, no fancy footwork necessary. And once the basic steps are mastered, dancers can add their own freestyle moves like explosive arm movements, shimmies, and hip bumps.

Regardless of whether you have two left feet or happen to be professional dancer, Bokwa is adaptable for all levels and ages. It also happens to be a calorie torcher. But the best part? It’s fun!”

Okay, we are convinced and ready to dance. The owner, leader and trendsetter surely must be proud.

Developed by international fitness personality Paul Mavi, Bokwa® comes from Paul’s native South African roots as a dancer and musician. As a leading Los Angeles based Group Fitness Instructor, Paul developed Bokwa® for his own classes over an 8 year period.

Since then Bokwa® has developed a loyal following across the globe with certified instructors and participants in dozens of countries, by offering certifications to Independent Group Fitness Instructors who then teach Bokwa® classes in some of the largest health club chains, independent studios, schools and community centers.

Many comparisons have been made between Bokwa and Zumba.

That’s understandable. Both pathways are high-energy group fitness classes that make you sweat while shaking your booty. But the similarities end there.

Bokwa doesn’t require any memorization of dance steps or combinations, while Zumba usually consists of a choreographed routine.

Because the steps are easy to learn, Bokwa is a good starting point for those who may not consider themselves dancers, or even athletes. Also, Bokwa is set to contemporary pop music, while Zumba is usually based on energetic Latin rhythms.

Fitness girls, female athletes and girl grapplers? Bokwa just might be for you.

If you decide to give it a try, it should be as easy as…………..

With any fitness program, it should be about burning and shedding those sticky calories. True?

We have a visiting female speaker who includes Bokwa in that category of calorie burning workouts and she would like to talk with you about it.

Please keep dancing.

What Is The Best Cardio For Weight Loss?

By Ashley Hubbard

Another very important aspect of a healthy weight loss plan is regular physical activity and exercise. Exercises provided the extra stimulation to burn excel calories, build lean muscle and tone the body, all of which healthy food simply cannot do.

The first obstacle most people face when trying to lose weight is the old question of: What is the best cardio for weight loss? After all there are many different forms of cardio vascular exercise, so this can be confusing.

Now my standard answer to this question would normally be something like “the one that you enjoy doing and will keep at the most”. One of the biggest problems many people face is that they have all the right intentions from the start, but they do very boring cardio routines that will never last long in the long run or provide any real tangible results.

I think one of the most important parts of exercise is to find something that you enjoy doing and something that you will stick at. Consistency is the key as over time this is what makes the difference.

In terms of options for cardio exercise, there are plenty of things to go at. You can go down the classic gym route and opt for the treadmill, bike, stair climber or elliptical trainer. All of these can provide a good workout which can be part of a plan.

There are many cardio type exercise classes to choose from today such as Zumba, Bokwa and step aerobics, and various combinations of these types of clothes. All of these provide their own benefits.

The key part to exercise is intensity, without high intensity there will be enough calories burned and there will not be much benefit from the exercise.

How hard a person can train will completely depend on their current physical shape, current weight and health conditions. The key is to start small or light and work up until at least 30 minutes of exercise can be reached without having to take a break. This will provide the ideal scenario for weight loss.

If someone is morbidly obese, then a light workout on a bike will be the best type of workout to start. Alternatively brisk jogging on the streets is another option.

I think there are 3 cardio exercises that really come to the top when it comes to overall improved fitness and weight loss. Running, swimming and skipping are considered to be some of the most effective calorie burners for a training program.

All 3 of these exercises are full body workouts, and provide a good level of conditioning as well as the calorie burning factor and other health benefits.

This all comes down to choice at the end of the day, the main thing is consistency. It is a good idea to mix things up as well from time to time.

As a personal recommendation, I would invest in a good quality skipping rope as this is one of the best items for a fitness enthusiast to ever have and really can roved a good all round workout. There are endless variations with skipping so you can mix things up a lot. Many fitness professional claim that skipping is 3 times as powerful as jogging, so if you want a time saving workout, then skipping is great option.

As a general rule anyone is trying to lose weight should do some form of cardio about 3 / 4 times a week to help enhance a program and lose a few extra pounds.
