Melodies that you can never get out of your head usually hold some special significance and a reminder of personal or social issues.
What’s Going On is the eleventh studio album by soul musician Marvin Gaye, released May 21, 1971, on the Motown-subsidiary label Tamla Records.
What’s going on?
One of America’s favorite retailers, from Seattle, is Nordstrom.
We have heard or read about them so often, it’s possible they can sometimes blend into the landscape when in reality they may have new and exciting products and services we need to hear about.
What’s up? What’s happening? What’s new? What’s going on?
Seattle, WA (April 14, 2016) – Today, Nordstrom, Inc. announced the arrival of IVY PARK, a new active wear line for women. Co-founded by Beyoncé and Sir Philip Green, the brand launched at 54 Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com.
IVY PARK design unifies fashion and performance. The leggings appear in three lengths, the Capri, which falls just under the knee; the crop, which falls on the calf; and the full length, which reaches the ankle. Each pant comes in three shapes: the I, the V and the Y, which corresponds with low rise, midrise and high rise fit, respectively.
The core of the collection is bolstered by ‘second skin’ signature pieces, including fitted tank tops with concealed, built-in sports bras, bonded, v-band structured medium impact sports bras, seamless knits and body suits. The line also features logo sweatshirts, cotton jersey tanks and tees, basketball mesh over-sized T-shirts and tank tops that appear in both black and white.
IVY PARK merchandise sold at Nordstrom ranges in price from $14 for a headband to $265 for a body suit.
Nordstrom has been the retail partner of choice for brands such as Topshop, Topman and Madewell, which have exclusive U.S. distribution through the retailer.

HERE IS SOMEONE THAT YOU NEED TO HEAR ABOUT
As reported in the New York Times on August 13, 2015, there is an innovative woman behind some of the exciting changes that are happening at Nordstrom’s. Let’s listen in. “The woman coaxing the $13 billion fashion retailer to think small has a “Babes in Toyland” squeak, intermittently bleach-blond hair and the letters S-I-C-K tattooed across her knuckles.
Olivia Kim isn’t business as usual for Nordstrom, the century-old Seattle-based department store with more than 100 locations across the country. Which is exactly why it hired her in 2013 to be director of creative projects, a new and intentionally amorphous position.”
NEVER BEFORE IN HISTORY
SEATTLE, Feb. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Seattle-based Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) today announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at One Bloor in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The 38,600-square-foot store is scheduled to open in 2018.
The store will be located in Yorkville on the southeast corner of Yonge Street and Bloor Street, a well-known shopping district in Toronto. The new Rack will join Bloor Street retailers that include Holt Renfrew, Prada, Gap, Michael Kors, H&M, and Zara. The store will be approximately one mile north of the Nordstrom full-line store scheduled to open September 16, 2016 at CF Eaton Centre.
Nordstrom Rack first started in the basement of the company’s Seattle store over 40 years ago and is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, Inc. The Rack offers customers a wide selection of on-trend apparel, accessories and shoes at an everyday savings of 30-70 percent off regular prices. Merchandise comes from Nordstrom stores and specially purchased items from many of the top brands sold at Nordstrom. The Rack is designed to provide the ultimate treasure hunt to style-savvy customers.

We look forward to getting our doors open to serve customers in Toronto.”
“We are delighted to welcome Nordstrom Rack to One Bloor, the perfect retailer for such a dynamic location. Anchoring the mink mile at the Yonge/Bloor intersection, One Bloor represents one of Toronto’s signature architectural landmarks and is a symbol of excellence in design, technology and experience,” said Christopher Wein, President Great Gulf. “With a culmination of residential, retail and transit at this amazing intersection and the vibrant pedestrian activity, Nordstrom Rack will be well positioned for success and future growth.”
Nordstrom first announced plans to expand to Canada in 2012 and to date has opened three full-line stores in Calgary at CF Chinook Centre on September 19, 2014; CF Rideau Centre in Ottawa on March 6, 2015 and CF Pacific Centre in Vancouver on September 18, 2015. The company will open three additional full-line stores in the Toronto area including CF Eaton Centre on September 16, 2016, Yorkdale Shopping Centre on October 21, 2016 and CF Sherway Gardens, fall 2017.
