Admiration from a stranger that speaks to your worth and one that catches you by surprise may speak to the notion that when you look in the mirror at yourself, you’re not seeing the magnificence that others do when they look at you.
A first glance at Fluvia Lucerda, a gorgeous feminine shapely model from Rio de Janeiro, sensuous admiration is a starting place. Humble in spirit, you would think that Fluvia is used to that.
In speaking with the enjoyable site venusimaging.com, Fluvia relates her experience on a New York City bus. “I was on a NYC bus, when a woman approached me and said ”you should be a plus size model”- I had no idea at the time that such thing even existed. So she gave me her card, she worked for MODE. I loved the idea of being comfortable in my own skin and showing that through the pictures. It might sound cliché, but that’s just how I really feel about myself… I’ve always had a great chemistry with the camera so I suppose that was a good combination.”
I have health. I have a wonderful support system. I have the admiration of millions of strangers, which I do not underestimate.….Kathleen Turner
A trendy site stylishcurves.net has admiration for Fluvia also. “This morning I woke up to some curvy girl goodness. One of my favorite models Fluvia Lucerda was featured on the Vogue Italia website in an interview by Gabi Hudson (MTV TJ). For those of you who never met Fluvia, she is truly a beauty inside and out. She’s also quite funny. In this feature Fluvia talks about how she’s proud of her curves and what the future holds for her.
If I were a gambling woman, I’d be willing to put a little money on it that if Fluvia were representing plus size brands, sales would sky rocket.”
We wouldn’t bet against you.
Yes our sweet Brazilian girl’s chemistry has all the right elements. Beauty, talent, radiance, a sense of humor, a strong fan following and the good fortune to be in the right place at the right time.
She moved to the United States in 1996, leaving Boa Vista (Roraima), where he lived at sixteen, to study English, but because of the family’s financial difficulties, had to work as a nanny and housekeeper.
Our star modeled for brands like Mar & Nua, Kmart, torrid, Igigi , Fashion Bug, among others, has made the cover of magazines such as Beautiful and Vogue Italy, besides having been photographed in countries like Spain, Canada, Germany, Australia, France, England, Jamaica and Brazil, among many other countries, reaching receive up to twenty thousand dollars a day.
That is a long way from the days of surviving on a maid’s salary.
Flavia is very open and candid as she speaks about her past at her website, fluvialacerdablog.wordpress.com. “At a size 18 model, it has been an uphill battle in many different ways, in which most times I feel that I have succeeded and I’m most grateful for it.
Through modeling I have traveled the world and had the chance to work in places like Germany, South Africa, Mexico, Paris, London, Spain and my beautiful native land of Brazil.
Besides a very successful modeling career, I have been also branching out to get involved with the plus size fashion industry in many different ways, whether it is writing a fashion column for Brazilian magazine Manequim, or being part of Navabi’s “Style Council“, sharing fashion ideas with plus size women worldwide or giving interviews about my views on the plus size industry.
On my blog I intend to continue to inspire plus size women everywhere, be through fashion ideas, personal struggles and victories or the latest great fashion discovery in whatever part of the world I may be.”
Those are wonderful goals that support an important cause.
As Femcompetitor Magazine has had the fantastic opportunity to research and feature female submission wrestlers, CrossFit Girls, Fitness and Runway Models from Brazil, we continue to swell with admiration.
I have a great deal of respect and admiration for people who put themselves on the line…….Major Owens
We’ve electronically traveled to Brazil to peek at the sun drenched beaches, exciting Mega Cities and mouth-watering restaurants but since we are enjoying Flavia’s company, we thought that we would look in on the Brazilian fashion industry, especially in Rio de Janeiro.
Do you know much about it?
The global site fashionbi.com shares some insight. “Not only is Brazil one of the most promising emerging economies in the world but also one of the biggest upcoming markets in the fashion scene. Thanks to the two major fashion events, Sao Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) and Fashion Rio, Brazil is taking over the fashion´s world and getting rid of its stereotype as the land of tiny bikinis, rubber flip-flops and Victoria´s Secrets models.
During the past few years, Brazil has become the land of opportunity for the fashion and luxury Industry, attracting many international brands such as Chanel, Hermes, Burberry, Gucci, Goyard, Prada, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Missoni among others. Just in 2012, around 30 international brands made their debut in the country, mainly in Sao Paulo, due to JK Shopping Mall opening and Cidade Jardim Mall expansion. Today the country counts with around 70 international brands scattered in its main economic capitals such as Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Curitiba.
But Brazil is not just importing fashion and luxury goods. The country also has a developed fashion industry of its own, comprised by many brands and designers that are internationally recognized. One of the reasons why Brazil´s domestic fashion market has gained notoriety inside and outside the country is because of its two most important fashion events, Sao Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) and Fashion Rio.”
I did not know that. I didn’t know this either.
The progressive and very personable site iloverio.com adds, “The vibrant life of Rio de Janeiro, is closely linked to its intense fashion style, as it is one of the languages that the city uses to express its personality. The people of Rio have incorporated some of the warmth and beauty of their environment and character into the way they present themselves, making their aesthetic highly influential in the world of international fashion.
All the best and most prominent designers and fashion houses are found in this cultural place, but the native brands take the crown – the local panorama is joyfully crowded with irresistible designers who give trends their own voice.”
Flavia has branched out and creatively designed her own brand of swim wear.
Here is what a reviewer had to say with an admiring eye. “Her prints are fabulous and feminine (love the floral)! They show some skin in every suit but some are more modest than others, perfect.”
Flavia you are on to something.
The world is always a better place with variety and politically incorrect as it may be in some circles that focus on health, many men love curvy girls. Their sexuality pours out of them.
Just look at her and salivate.
Fluvia Lucerda is proof of that.
